My AD? Safety razors, plain and simple. :)

I like to sample as many of them as I can, and when I first saw that Shave A Buck had a new current production brand in stock that I never heard of, I had to try one. I ordered the last one of the first trial shipment they received.

Now seeing that it was from Pakistan, I have to admit that I wasn't too surprised that the one I received had a problem with the silo doors not closing right, and that caused uneven blade exposure. I sent a quick message to Joe at Shave A Buck about the problem, and he promptly sent me a new replacement, complete with a leather travel pouch that the first shipment didn't include. Now that is customer service for you! :signs107

The brass Sabi I chose is a handsome looking razor. The TTO knob is under the head, and the handle is knurled for good grip. It is a fairly hefty razor that may be just a touch handle heavy. The finish was top notch on both of the ones I handled.

So how does it shave? My skin doesn't like aggressive style razors, and it got along quite well with the Sabi, it gave me some very nice, close, smooth shaves. I would have to say it is more aggressive than a Weishi, probably on par with an early model 47-50 Super Speed, and definitely a razor that a newbie or seasoned wetshaver could use.

So the good looking Sabi has earned a place in my rotation, and is a razor that both of my sons have used and liked. It was $15.00 well spent as far as I'm concerned. Now, I wonder what the Gen 2 might look like? :think002

    As always, YMMV.

    Cheaply made piece of junk.

I really wanted to like this razor.

I acquired it from Shaveabuck for an intro special of $9.95, price is now $14.95 (now back down to $9.95 I see).

The razor is of solid brass construction, which is certainly unique in the modern day razor market.

The overall construction closely follows the build style of a Gillette Knack, but unfortunately is very shoddy at best.

The punched out parts of the razor have jagged edges, and the TTO doors are uneven, with one locking down more, than the other. The TTO mechanism seems extremely loose, and rattles when open.

The uneven doors mean that the blade is not evenly curved when the full pressure of the doors is applied.

The razor seemed to shave fine, but I certainly can't recommend it. The Ming Shi, and Weishi are both at a similar price point, and don't suffer from this level of shoddy construction.

In the end, I cleaned up the jagged edges the best I could with sandpaper, and tried my best to fix the door that wouldn't fully seat. I eventually PIFed it as part of a Christmas giveaway, as with so many other superior razors in my possession, there was no way I was ever going to use it.
