Hi all, I have a few old heavy straight's with crack's and bites on the scales. I wonder if anyone has tried using brass or nickel liner's (like folding knives) ? Thank's
No, but I've wondered the same thing on some of my older straight with thinner scales. I think you'd have to get the blade pretty well dead centered when closing or you could do some damage if the blade hit the metal liner. That would be my only concern.
The Wapi was all steel...I suppose you could do metal liners. I found the Wapi too heavy with its steel scales so I am having it rescaled in acrylic.
Yes... There are sheets of Tin and Brass that can be used they are .008 and .005 thicknesses.. The problem is weight and balance, some people have used acrylic sheets as liners to solve this..
