A while ago I sold my Schick G razor that had a rifle case handle. But recently, some of you might remember (@Enrico), in a lot I got a Schick E3 razor head, box and instruction sheet. So I made another handle for it and modified the spring to open like an early E2 for easier cleaning. I'm glad I did because it was really cruddy underneath..............
I do like the mod to open the head when you want. Like the other E models. But Im not much on the handle not heing a gun nut. Still, a fine job. If I had a head that needed a new handle i might try to carve out an exotic wood handle. Some day.
There is also a 3d printable handle that's a replica of the original handle.. I printed one and its hard to tell its a replacement....
I was surprised that the original handle wasn't there, considering how it was in really good shape. Well except for the crap inside when I moved the spring.
Very cool! I believe there were a few out there that got something like celluloid rot that destroys the handles.
First you have to do a little prying to lift the spring to go past it's stop, first pic, I used a fork because I had it in front of me. Then file or grind down the tab on the right side to look like an early Type 2 spring. Install a blade and move the spring back into position. If it seems a bit loose, open the spring up and put just a little bit of pressure downward to make it tighter.
Thanks Jim. That is very helpful. I will try this on mine. Please don't tell my Bride I'm using her forks to repair my razors. Sure does. I should have looked more closely. Thanks Enrico!
a strong thin screwdriver may be better. all you have to do is lift the spring just enough to go past the tab. of course, I'm open to orders.............
