Just completed I think my fifth shave with this razor. What a nice shaving little razor it is. I started off with a Gillette Yellow in it and I have to say the shaves were a bit harsh seeming. I actually had a few nicks, though the shaves were quite close, with what is apparently a quite mild razor. Today, after my shower, I put a Wilkinson Sword blade in the Krona, I loaded up a brush with some L'Occitane "Cade" shaving cream. (great smelling cream, I got a travel size in the mall a couple of days ago, because they were all out of soap. Unfortunately the stuff is $28 buck a tube for the full size.) I must reiterate that the Cade cream smells absolutely wonderful. Anyway, after three passes and some buffing, a splash of Thayer's WH and a bit of the Nivea ASB, I am the owner of a fantastically smooth face, no nicks, no cuts, no errors. The Krona is, for me, one heck of a great little razor. It really is too bad that it is such a flimsy, lightweight, plastic, ugly thing; because it works like a charm. I just need to find some kind of razor that shaves as well but is made of more durable stuff. I highly recommend the Krona, especially for new DE shavers.
I have a Super Adjustable, unfortunately it is the most maddening, inconsistent razor I own. I don't know what the problem. I have a slim on the way now, hopefully that will treat me a bit better.
I have no idea. I think the blade gap is uneven however I can't find anything mechanically wrong with it.
More durable? Your Krona has lasted this long, hasn't it? I really like the handle of the Krona, I just wish it was a bit heavier. How is the Cade shaving cream working out for you? I recently picked up a sample and I love the stuff. Just a small amount goes a long way, and it makes my face feel so nice when I'm done.
The Cade is really, really awesome, the smell is wonderful and it lathers very well. If it weren't so expensive I would use it forever. I need to try the soap, it's much more affordable. Have you tried the soap?
The soap is one of my favorites and I'm planning on using it all week. It has a more subtle scent than the cream. At first I thought it was too lightly scented, but as I get further into this puck the scent is starting to come out. It's really great stuff and very reasonably priced. It's one of a few soaps that will always be in my den.
Nice,I need to grab some once the fallout from my recent razor binge settles down. I wanted a soap when I went to the store in the mall but they were all out.
I noticed the weight is different between the Kronas with the metal TTO knob and the plastic TTO knob. The metal ones seem a little heavier and also balance a bit better.
After getting a slim that works properly, I think the super is in need of repair. Unfortunately I have no idea how to go about repairing it.
Sorry, I really didn't answer the question, yes I did loosen the head but ist never worked right. The risk of eBay I guess.
I have Gillette Flare tip, black tip and red tip. I'd much rather shave with my Schick Krona. It's such a better razor, the handle is longer, plus I get an irritation and nick free shave!
