I still have my summer cold so to make today interesting, I decided to actually shave with one of the 2 razors in my collection I've been a little nervous about trying.

My Segal Uni-Matic safety razor. I got it with a pack of unopened blades and my resistance has been how to bring an 80 yr old blade up to "not tear my face off" condition. I managed it with my stright razor gear and duct tape. :D

The razor has excellent ballance and is hefty at 2.5 oz. (fat boy is 2.7 oz). The deck is a slab of steel while the rest is brass. Orginal gold plating is a little worse for ware. It has 3 moving parts, 4 total.

The shave was excellent as the razor's ballance makes it easy to control. The blade was what I would call "4th day on a 5 day blade". Still and all, it gave me a feel for what the razor must have been like. If new blades every appear, this thing goes to the top of my rotation.

Interesting side note. Segal blades were made to also fit gillettes. Oh well, What could have been.
