Now I have two Semogue boar brushes: the 1305 and the 1800. I got the 1305 in June of 2013 and have used it for more than 180 shaves. I find it to be a great performer. The 1800 was a gift in a recent PIF. They appear to have the same handle shape. The 1305 is painted with a nice green and ivory color while the 1800 has a natural oak wood finish. The 1305 seems to be more dense. I have only had one shave with the 1800, but I will be alternating it with a new Omega 11137 (received in the same PIF) over the next month or so. I am looking forward to a very boaring month getting to know the new brushes.

The 1305 looks like it is a bit denser than the 1800. That may be an illusion as the 1800 has not totally dried from today's shave.

I want to thank @sonnyrsg again for a great pif.

    Semogue 1305 : premium 90% tops

Semogue 1800 : Blend of extra 75% tops with premium 90%

Both are great. Very similar, but totally different.

Thanks for the info. You can see the difference and feel the difference. My 1305 has really held up well. Now we will see how the 1800 will do.

I have a well broken in 1305. This brush has to be one of the best values on the market. Great with hard soaps, soft soaps, and creams; bowl and face lathering.

You can pick one up from Bruno at Vintagescent.com for $14.41 plus about $3.50 shipping. A world class boar for less than 20 bucks. What a deal.:happy093:

I know Semogue is most often compared to Omega, but in my opinion, Semogue is leagues ahead of the other boar makers, both in quality of knots and in their transparency when it comes to identifying the different grades of knots.

I had my second shave with the 1800 today, and I used VDH Luxury Shave Soap. It did a really good job of lathering and I fond it to be very soft on my face. I like it.

I also had both, pifed the 1305 and kept the 1800.
Why? Because the 1305 is such a bloomer once broken while the 1800 keeps it's shape. Top class boars.
