Hey guys, so I purchased my first boar brush today and it is a semogue 2000. I'm very excited to use it. I was doing research on it an noticed ever photo taken had the semogue engraved on the bottom. Then I noticed mine didn't. Is this no big deal? Older/Newer version etc..? Just curious. Really no big deal as long as it performs the same.
This is a highly recommended boar from my stand point. I wouldn't be worried about the bottom. May be a newer version. It's a fantastic big brush once good and broken in. I hope you enjoy!
I bought a new semogue a couple of months back and it had Semogue engraved on the bottom. My other Semogue does not. Go figure! Seriously, don't worry about that. The Semogue boar brushes are fantastic. They take about a dozen uses to break in. Once broken in, they are great brushes with plenty of backbone to whip up a lather from any soap. The tips soften up too and feel great on the face. Nice acquisition!
It looks a fine brush, very nice. My Semogue broke in quickly and is a fantastic brush. I think you'll love your new brush.
Semogue. brushes are top of the line. I have twelve that see regular use----some engraved and some not. My 2000 is one of my favorites-----I love the "Semogue Bloom" they develop when broken in. My oldest one is about ten years old with a full knot of bristles-no shedders in my flock. Enjoy your brush for years to come.
Great brush. You are sitting in the car opening your mail, aren't you? Been there! Enjoy it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I bought my 2000 6-7 years ago, nothing on the bottom. The finish did start to crack and the wood got a bit soft around the collar. That was a common problem back then, hopefully Semgue has taken care of that issue. I stripped the finish just with a good sanding, stained it, then 3-4 coats of poly. Haven't had a problem since. Enjoy!
Yeah it isn't bothering me just curious. I tried it this morning, and for a brush not broken in yet it was amazing.
The really nice thing is that it gets better once broken in and the price point. Semogue brushes are quite nice.
That's good to hear. I don't have much experience with boar brushes, but aparently they get softer and split ends as time goes on, so I would imagine it would get even better with time, if that's possible.
