So you may have seen that I picked up one of these brushes since I had heard about the Mistura knot on another shaving site. Gave it a 24 hour soak and the ten minutes on the towel routine, plus a test lather with Tabac today. Definitely does not need more than the single soak. Will use it tonight for the "date night" shave, and report back. The test lather went well, and quickly loaded and whipped the Tabac into a yogurt like consistency. Congrats. I do not have that one, but the Semogue Mistura has been a favorite and daily driver here. Enjoy.
I have two Semogue boars, a Semogue silver tip badger, and the Mistura tops them all. I tried the small Omega mixed, so that’s my only comparison, but after using it for tonight’s shave, I can confidently say that itch is scratched. Nowhere near as prickly as the Omega. It’s a seriously good performer and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. My Chubbys are great, but are they twice the price better? I’m not sure. Guess a chubby will get a drive tomorrow.
Good suggestion, for sure. If you subscribe to their newsletter and play this right, May the 4th can bring you a nice surprise. If you catch my drift.
So, I have not used anything but this brush for my every other day shaves. If someone asked me that was starting out to recommend a brush under $100, I would have no problem recommending this knot.
I've been hooked on Semogue mixed knots since 2013/2014. Occasionally I will use something else, but not very frequently. Enjoy your brush.
