Just ordered one of these a few minutes ago from Vintage Scent. It's a beauty of and can't wait to get it. I'm sure it will perform just as good if not better than my current Semogues (830 & 620), but am curious to see what others have to say about this pig. Thanks in advance!
I love my SOC so much I decided against selling it. The thing just works wonders with face & bowl lathering.
I have used it for 99% of all my shaves since I got it about 8-10 months ago. This $30 boar puts my $300 silvertip to shame. It is nice and once broken in, just as soft as a silvertip but with a stiffer hair shaft. Muy bueno!
i'm working on the italien barber boar now. trying to crack the fur to my liking. the soc would be my next brush. love the cherry handle
It's a great brush, but I never really warmed up to my SOC. I find myself using a Semogue 2000 much more frequently.
I don't think the 2000 came in Cherry wood. I think it was only available in Ash. I like the looks of the SOC Cherry wood, but really prefer the 2000.
You're right about the 2000 sitting in Ash. I thought, for some reason, they moved it into the Cherry Wood for the SOC brush.

You're going to love it. It has all but replace my other brushes. I use it about 9 out of every 10 shaves......
I have done 4 shavings with my Semogue SOC I can not say i am impressed but i can not say i am disappointed either. Of course it's still in "break-in" process so i can not judge it very strictly but: I bowl lathering with Mama Bear's soaps the results are good With face lathering with creams the results are not good Although i soak the brush about 8-10' in face lathering seems that the knot absorbs too much I am not happy with the lather in face but yes the massage in my face skin is good. I will wait some weeks so the "break-in" will completed and then i will mention the results Till then some patience and scepticism.
I mainly use Tabac soap. I soak my brush while I shower, shake it out really well and swirl it on the soap for 5-10 seconds. Also while I'm showering I put water on the soap to soften it a little. This combo works extremely well for me with the SOC. I usually have at least 2 passes worth of soap leftover and I am a 2 pass guy. I'm pretty sure once the break in is complete that you will be enamored with it. During the break in you'll probably work out the bugs and have it dialed in in time for the bristles to split.
I have one on order too and am looking forward to getting it. Lots of great reviews on a number of forums. Also, I have a number of Semogue boars. You just gotta be patient when breaking them in and you will be rewarded. The break-in will not happen overnight.
