SOTD September 6, 2018 A Stirling SEptember Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE Razor: GEM Featherweight Brush: JR #60 synthetic Soap: Stirling Sandpiper Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sandpiper aftershave Featherweight today for a smooth shave. I neglect this razor but always have good results when using it. It's lightweight (hence the title) and perhaps that turns some people off, but it works well. No surprises today. Straightforward and easy with nice results in the end. Have a great day!
Tabac Thursday's Shave Cold Water Wash Tabac The Brush B-3 by Tom, Badger Schick Golden 500 Schick Proline B20 CWR Tabac AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shave Soap face lathered well with The Brush B-3 by Tom. I was tempted to stop after one pass, but I did two passes with the Schick Golden 500 Razor with a Schick Proline B20 blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Topless Thursday SEptember 6, 2018 I get a really nice shave from this razor here. I was turned onto it by a member from another forum who lent it to me and it was love at first shave. We struck a deal and it has been with me for a bit over a year. Just a fabulous shaving tool. Intended and designed for a hollow ground wedge blade, it was tweaked and slightly modified to take a GEM blade. A simple but ingenious design that has the added benefit of an adjustable roller guard. Wilkinson kept it simple without having to worry about any extra designs concerning blade gap and exposure. They simply added an adjustment dial at the back of the razor head which in turn allows one to bring out the roller guard for less blade feel and a milder shave. Or, turn the dial to bring in the roller guard and get as much blade feel as you want. Ingenious really. The shaves it gives rivals any GEM or Wedge style vintage razor and it stands against any GEM razor including any of the modern designs today. It’s a very seldom talked about razor today and is truly a unique and outstanding performer. Just want to shine a spotlight on it today. It’s truly deserving...
