Serious burn this morning

For this morning's shave I went through my usual routine, and when I was finished up I splashed on some Ogallala Bay Rum aftershave. Immediately my face was on fire! :angry017 I'm use to having a little burn after putting on a splash, but this was a very severe burn. I looked up at the mirror and my face was turning red all over. It did not go away after a few seconds the way a normal a/s splash burn does, either. The burn stayed and even intensified for several minutes. It was very painful, and my face stayed red for a good hour afterward.

I've used OBR many times in the past, so I know it wasn't an allergic reaction or anything. The only thing I can think of is maybe I had a slight sunburn on my face, as I had been out in the sun for a little while yesterday. If so I didn't notice it being red before the shave, but maybe it was made to be more sensitive without the appearance of the skin changing. Just wanted to warn everyone--if you're going to be outside in the sun, be extra careful with your shaves. Especially you menthol lovers!

Did you forget to shake up the bottle real good? I understand this needs to be done with OBR, and the sun exposure might be to blame too, or a bad blade.

Some people just do not mix well with bay rum. I'm on that boat.
