Sharper Blade?

Does someone know what the next step up in sharpness is to Chrystal platinum? Thank you for your info.

 

Try a Feather Stainless. I like the Crystal Platinums as well but I think the Feathers are a little sharper. They can be purchased at most of the shaving suppliers.

 

Echo the Feather. Also Polsilver Super Iridium - I think just as sharp as the Feather.

 

Personna Lab. Sharper, just as smooth, and USA made.

 

There is also KAI blades, not quite as sharp as a feather, but close.

I enjoy Perma-Sharp Super and Gillette Silver Blue blades.

 

I put a Feather in my Ball End Tech last night for my head shave. I had to keep checking to make sure I put the blade in because it was smooth! I think that means pretty sharp. Gillette Silver Blues also seem pretty sharp to me.

 

Rapiras (Swedish Super Steel, or LUX) would be a step up in sharpness to the Crystals, and similarly smooth.

 

Gillette Silver Blue.
Wicked sharp.
My butcher uses them.

 

Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum, either in the black wrapper or blue wrapper. They are hella sharp and quite smooth, and last darned near forever. I get about 14 shaves out of each blade.

 

The Crystals (or Personna Reds) are not know to be a sharp blade at all (very smooth but not super sharp) so you could choose many blades like the Astra SP or Personna Lab blades that would be a good step up in sharpness. If you already like the Crystals you'll probably enjoy the Personna Labs because they have a similar feel while being sharper.

I find I prefer the very sharp blades myself and use the following:
Feather
Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow
PolSilver Super Iridium
Gillette 7 O'clock Black
Gillette Silver Blue
