Shave Shack Texas: Caveat Emptor

I have been looking for some Simpsons Lavender & Vetivert Shaving Cream. So I googled it, and Shave Shop Texas supposedly had some in stock. But they had a $50 minimum to qualify for free shipping. So I added 2 items that would be useful, and placed my order.

Then I got an email telling me that they were out of the Simpsons shave cream, and they would be refunding me $25 within 10 days. And instead of asking me if I wanted to continue with the order (I didn't), they sent me a shipping notice with a tracking number. I emailed them immediately, asking them to please cancel the order. It's been 24 hours, and they have not yet responded.

According to my bank records they have my $53, and there has been no refund. According to the shipping number, a label has been created but it has not been shipped. I will be going to my bank in a few hours to file a dispute.

Has anyone on this forum had any dealings, positive or negative, with Shave Shack Texas (shaveshacktx.com)? I'd like to know.

It sounds like their shopping cart and inventory control system don't work well together. If an item is out of stock, their website should not allow you to add it to your cart. Twenty-four hours is not that long, though. Maybe just give them a few days? If they ship the remainder of the order, you can always get the Simpsons cream somewhere else.

It looks like at least one other person had problems a few years ago:

I have never heard of Shave Shack Tx before, and there doesn't seem to be much about them online, good or bad. Here is another Texas establishment that carries the Simpsons cream, in case it helps:

According to the tracking number they shipped my 2/3 order yesterday, despite my sending them 3 emails requesting that they cancel the order entirely. I have yet to get a response from them, however my $25 refund is in process. I will probably live with that, since I am running low on Speick AS and can use a new nail file, but I will never do business with them again. I feel like they slammed that order down my throat, despite my asking them 3 times to cancel it. But it is their total lack of communication that seals the deal for me. Never again!

I think "slammed that order down my throat" is a little overwrought. The lack of communication, on the other hand, is a deal killer for any business. At least you are getting refunded for the unavailable item and two useful items shipped, so its not a total wash. Anyways, thanks for the heads up.

And Murphy & McNeil. Not only do they have the Simpsons soap for which you are looking, they apparently have some excellent soaps of their own. Their Slainte and Kodiak soap bases get high praise, at least in several reviews I read. Their website offers soaps in a variety of scents, too. Cool!

Au contraire, Shaver X. Murphy & McNeil is completely sold out of Simpsons Shaving Cream. I checked them first, as I've had good dealings with them before. Shave Shack Texas was the only vendor in the USA that showed Simpsons Lavender & Vetivert as being in stock, which was why I ordered from them.
