Hey i was wondering if any of u guys switch from a tub to a tube to make it easier when making getting it into your dish to lather? I was thinking of doing this when my one tub of cream is empty to try and to put in some cream that comes in a tub. Does anybody else do this? or is it just too much of a trouble? or the different consistency is a pain to get the right tube to use?
Sounds like what you need is a snurdle dipper! I started off with a plastic picnic knife and eventually bought a silver brie knife that is inlaid with turquoise. But as for stuffing tub cream in a tube... no, I had not considered that.
I use a butter knife to get cream out of a tub. It's so easily done, I don't have a reason to transfer the cream to a tube, though it is an interesting idea. It seems to me as if it would be more trouble than it would be worth. If you really like tube creams, I'd suggest just finding a tubed cream that you really like.
ya I just prefer it in a tube. I know its not much different i think that it is just easier to squeeze make lather done. I might try when i get another cream in a tub and see how that goes.
If I have read this correctly you are asking how to transfer cream from a tub into a squeeze tube right? If so, I think that would be exceedingly difficult and much more trouble than it's worth. I could be reading this wrong however. If you mean squeezing the contents of a tube into a tub then that would be much easier and make more sense. I say give it a shot and see how you like it.
Would it be very difficult? I assume that some different types of tubes have a screw on lid that you can take off to have a decent sized hole to squeeze the cream into. Right now the only tube that i currently have is the Body Shop and i believe it is a snap on cap. When i finish it i will try to see if i can pop it off fill it up and see how it works.
I would just leave it in whatever container it came in. You run too big a risk ruining the cream if you start trying to transfer it around, not to mention the cream that gets wasted because of not being able to get all of it out of the original container.
how would transferring it to a tube ruin in? and to get all the cream out of the tub i could get as much as i can out then use my brush dry to get any pieces that i couldn't get. sorry if that came off rude. But how would that ruin it at all?
Exposing it to the air and not using it could cause it to lose some of its moisture. I've heard of people doing that and then finding the cream dried out and very difficult to lather. Not saying that would definitely happen, just that it's a risk you take. I'm new at all this, though, so I still have much to learn myself.
it wouldn't really be exposed to air that much. You open the tub everyday to shave... as apposed to opening it once transferring it to a tube and then done. and can you please show me a link to where this has happened so i can see what they did and hopefully try and think of a way that fixes the issue.
I had a guy talking to me a few weeks ago that said he took his body shop macca root shave cream and filled a tub with it to let it dry out. He then used it like a shave soap because it lasted longer. Exposing the cream to air for the amount of time it would take you to put it in a tube (may be slightly difficult) shouldn't hurt it I would think. The other option might be to look into those bulk cosmetic containers and finding something easier to load that works for you as well as a tube.
I actually received a tub and a tube of the Macca root shaving cream for my birthday got one in my stocking, and another was a gift from my girlfriend. If i can't snap the lid on and off i was thinking of using a hand lotion container. and thanks for the ideas guys. now just to use all of my cream up to try and figure this out . Might have to start making extra lather
If you go to a mall and a Bath and Body Works store, you can get little plastic "shovels" like this for free!
Interesting concept. I don't think the lotion container idea will work because most creams are just too thick to be able to handle it.
i thought about this already which is why i want to try a lotion container. Some containers have drastically different sized openings. I just looked at two i have and my one hand cream made by Vaseline has a opening maybe 3mm. and i have another cream with a opening that is 7mm. And if i can use a empty shaving cream tube i wouldn't need to worry about this at all.
Are you going to use a pump or just the lotion container with a lid? As long as you're not worrying about the pump then it could work. I do need to ask though why you don't like the tub? Most people I know do a quick dip and swirl with their cream shaving soaps and they're off to the races....
Sorry if i didnt say it but i am not going to use a pump. I don't hate tubs i would much rather just squeeze out my cream and start. I do the "dip and swirl" with my soaps but with creams you usually scoop some out put in bowl. clean that butter knife or what not. then start.
If it's in a tub have you tried putting your wet brush just on the top and doing a 1/4 turn to pick up your cream and then lathering in your bowl or whatever? I find that works really well for me (I'm a skin latherer).
I can't post the link but these might work. Coghlan's squeeze tubes Plastic tubes you fill from the bottom fold over then slide a clip on.
