I browse the forums all the time (I even figured out a way to kind of automate the process so others can do it too) but I don't post much.

    You're welcome! ;)

Yeah I kinda saw "While I was doing research and writing a possible future article, I discovered that @mantic invented blade buffing". I appreciate the walk back.

    timabababaluka No exceptions. Except.....

Dibs on touching up an area without reapplying lather because I'm too lazy and have convinced myself that there is still enough residual slickness to get it done, then after the irritation sets in swearing that I'll never do that again, only to repeat the same mistake the very next day.

I'm sure I didn't invent this technique, but after several years, I think I've honed it into a fine art--perhaps even mastered it.

    I don't know... Seems a bit drastic.
I still get worked up about the terminology of 'blooming' too. I don't have a problem with the concept. Hydrating MWF is an extreme application of blooming.

I've heard blooming also refers to wetting coffee grounds before brewing. It allows the C02 trapped in the coffee to percolate out of the grounds.

Double open comb razors were made for you.

There are probably many things we do that are not necessary or not seen as necessary by others.

Learning what works is all a part of what it means to be human, in my opinion. Learning to hone a razor so that it suits your beard type and skill comes to mind.

Another factor that is seldom discussed is the amount of facial hair allowed to grow and not being shaved. Those men with chin whiskers, usually in the middle face, will not have the same needs as a full face shaver. Certainly the middle face is the biggest challenge for any edge and skill level.

Whether one wets the puck is immaterial. If it works, then do it.

When my Dad taught me to shave back in '62-3, he didn't have titles for the stroke that he showed me, just watch, show and explain sort of teaching. Or, watch your mother use a knife while shes cooking lol. After joining Shave Den and other Forum I've tried to add titles to my strokes.
Not seeing video before of Gillette slide, my thought of it was, Stroke straight down or up with a Guillotine blade angle but most of my strokes weather long or short are with a Guillotine blade angle. Maybe we should add a new name to the mix or do we already have one?
