Shick Injector Type "E"

Discussion in 'Safety Razors' started by Trout Whisperer, Aug 5, 2016.

  1. On the heels of the Ever-Ready 1924 arrived the first Shick Injector type "E" I've used. It was a pleasant surprise to find one in good user-grade condition for a reasonable price. (I buy razors for shaving, and leave collector's items for others.)

    The art-deco styling, caramel/butterscotch handle, and the gold-looking finish make an attractive razor. I was more impressed, however, by its efficiency. My dad's type "L" is noticeably milder, and his Personna injector is a butter knife in comparison.

    When it comes to my beard, Schick got it right with this razor.

    Hello, it's good to hear you get along well with your E Type. I had one too, but I could never get a good shave from it. I always had irritation and even nicks from it. However I absolutely love my Adjustable Schick Injector. I guess it's one of those YMMV things.

    I picked up a Schick injector E a few months back and just love it! The shaves are fantastic and it looks awesome! Some people find the E to be aggressive compared to the later models. I find it just right and not much different than the later G model. The blades are a bit more expensive and usually cannot be found except online, but the closeness and smoothness of the shave is worth it!

    @Jim99
    What is the difference between the Chinese Schick blades and the blades you mentioned in here in your post ? And what are the blades called?
    Thanks.

    I have my Dad's Schick E that he replaced the handle on. It is on the aggressive side. I break it out each year during the week of his birthday.

    Comparing my E and G, the E is more aggressive and only use it on occasion. Even then I will only do a two pass shave. The G gives me great shaves, as does my I.

    I was referring to the cost of the injector blades for my Schick razors versus those I use in my DE razors. Note that the blades are not interchangeable. I can get DE blades for 10 to 12 cents online, where injector blades cost closer to 75 cents online. Good news is I get more shaves out of a Schick injector blade than I do from a DE blade.

  10. Haven't tried a type "G". I have a wire beard that grows along my skin, and the whiskers transmogrify into titanium when they turn grey, so the more aggressive/efficient razors work best for me.

    The Chinese Schick blades work well enough that I've not bothered with any others.
