So, I've been looking at this brush, it seems quite nice--both the X2 and X3. Classic look, good firm knot...The only problem is, no one wants to sell me one. The only vendor I can find that supplies them is Lee's safety razors, and the International Shipping there is insane ($27 flat rate?! WHAT?). Does anyone know where I can at least PRICE one of these guys? Failing that, how would I go about contacting Simpsons directly? Go through Vulfix? I feel like I'm in crazy land...
Per an email I received in June...Thank you for your e-mail. With regard to Simpsons, I can confirm that production has been transferred to A. Simpson & Co. Unit 24 Spring Valley Industrial Estate Douglas Isle of Man IM2 2QR All enquiries should be directed to Philip Watterson at that address. The production of all Coates Shaving Cream remains at Oriel House Tabram's Pitch Nailsworth Glos., GL6 0BS and all enquiries for Coates Shaving Cream should be directed to this address Sarah Crumpton For and on behalf of David Carter Isle of Man is Vulfix. That said, buying brushes from Simpsons directly was (before Vulfix) more expensive than buying from their dealers. Don't know about pricing now. Edit: Should have included the email address...info@a-simpson.co.uk...I assume it's still valid.
Jim, Wish I could help you out. Nobody seems to have any. I found an X1 for $71.00, The shipping price to Japan; posted for your amusement is $54.95 (regular UPS only) 2nd day available at extra cost. Lee's price suddenly doesn't sound too bad. My X3 is a great brush though Good Luck.
Wh... $54.95 ISN'T 2nd day???? Crap on a stick, does this brush weigh like 4 pounds or something??? Thanks for the info, Michael. I'll try to contact them...see what's what. Ok, change in tactic...How does a Commodore X2 compare to a Beaufort B3? I found one from a UK vendor. The yen is mighty strong against the Pound right now.
Hmmm. Having fun yet? How about this? From Vulfix... Progress Shaving Brush (Vulfix) Ltd Unit 24 Spring Valley Industrial Estate Braddan Isle of Man IM2 2QR Tel: +44 (0) 1624 676030 Fax: +44 (0) 1624 662056 Email: sales@vulfixoldoriginal.com
Wait, is this whole thing supposed to be fun? I thought it was some kind of penance... Yeah, I'll try Vulfix next. I've had great success with them in the past. Should have started there, I reckon. Thanks!
Probably a good thing info@simpsons doesn't work. When it DID work, it often took 1-2 weeks to get an answer from them. Good luck!
