I'm looking at the Muhle R89 and the Edwin Jagger DE89L. I understand that the handle is the only difference. Which is easier to grip when wet or soapy?

    Welcome to the den.

While I don't have either of the razors mentioned, Im sure someone will be along shortly.

Neither do I have either razors, but I do have quite a few razors with different styles of grip. I have never had a problem with a handle being slippery when wet. Soapy, on the other hand, will be slippery no matter what you have.

I have a Edwin Jagger DE89 ( the all chrome version ) and it's my main razor, the one i use the most.
And while it's all chrome i never had a problem of slipery handle, like other mentioned , every razor can slip off your hands if you have soap on it.

I'm using my EJ as my "to tired for a descent shave" razor this trip. Never had any slip problems. EJ have a good "finish". The casting and tooling marks on my Merkurs make me crazy.

Never had a problem with the DE89, but if concerned try the new Jagger Barleycorn handle as it has texture.

    Hi and welcome.

I also have the Muhle, and i don't find it slippery. I'd say the Merkur HD has better grip, but the Muhle will not cause problems with slippage. If I had to choose between the two, i'd atke the Muhle. I also have a black handle EJ, which is smooth, but I don't find it overly slippery.
