A few days ago, @Jrdelgado gave me some brushes and I picked this one to restore first. It's on the small side at under three and a half inches. It had a nice design to it, but I couldn't save it as the paint was bubbled up in places. I did a test lather to check on the condition of the boar knot, and it was nice. The first pic as how it originally was..........

Second pic showing how I started to remove the paint. The material underneath, plaster (?), was so thick, my hobby knife had a hard time removing it..........

So it was time to use the rotary tool using a used sanding drum so I wouldn't accidentally gouge into the wood..........

All done removing everything, but the brush was on the light side.......... 4.jpg

Because I didn't want to remove the knot, I added some weight from underneath. I used a wood drill bit on my drill and made enough room for some BB's for added weight. Pic showing the bottom after I added the BB's with epoxy and sanded......... 5.jpg

After some debating on the design and color scheme, I came up with this. Model Master Savage Blue for the bottom, Apple Barrel Carolina Blue on top, and three Black stripes. The wider black stripe between the main colors is a bit hard to see in this pic. It needs a couple more clear coats, but that'll be later..........

    Excellent work Jim :happy096:
How do you get the division of paint so even?

Thank you Douglas. I really liked the design on the top half. Too bad I couldn't save it, it was bubbled and peeling.

I use masking tape (low tack) specifically made for models. They come in different widths.
