I've seen several threads of "if you only had one soap" or "what's your favorite soap", but never any that are "what are you really wanting to try next". So, I'd like to know what others are aching to try out. I've tried quite a few, from $1.50 VDH soap to $30+ penhaligons/floris soaps. Of all the soaps I've tried, I still have the ones below that I want to try out; Tabac Joris Institut Karite TSD Speick Culmak (I've heard that T&H soap is the same thing, but don't know) Gold Dachs/Rivivage Olivia Soaps Proraso Green tea Osma Savon Durance L'ome And for background, these are what I've tried already; Floris Penhaligons T&H Trumpers Taylors La Toja Lea Boots Palmolive Arko Wilkinson Sword (bowl and stick) Mitchells/Kent Ogallala Bay Rum Pirates Cove Bay Rum Williams Van Der Hagen Ver Gulde Hand Honey Bee Spa Saint Charles Shave Susie Bubbles Mama Bear QED Erasmic (bowl and stick) Col Conk L'Occitane Pre De Provence Provence Sante Valobra Art of Shaving Cella Sapone Vintage Yardley ..and I'm sure I'm missing a few that I've tried
Bump TSD to the top of that list. Any flavor, though I think Bay Rum is my favorite. Patchouli and Vetiver aren't far behind though.
Hi All, Not too long ago, I asked JoAnna if she could mix in some of her wonderful 'lime' in with the bay rum I was ordering. She did, and I might recommend that combo. The nice bump of lime makes the bay rum even more interesting to me. Martin
Hmm, I would like some more TSD soaps and would also like to try the AOS soap line......getting to the point where I know what I like these days... I've tried these soaps so far: Tabac Speick Arko Stick L' Occitane T&H Luxury C&E Nomad Erasmic Bowl Erasmic Stick Proraso Green Provence Sante Pre de Provence C&E Sandalwood De Velgulde Hand Mitchell's Wool Fat TSD Victorian Rose C&E Sweet Almond Oil Institut Karite 25% Shea Penhaligons English Fern Mama Bears Hydrogen Mama Bears Patchoulli Mama Bears Fleur de Soul Mama Bears Dragons Blood Mama Bears Rosemary Mint Mama Bears Victorian Violets Mama Bears Spellbound Woods QED B&B QED Limes QED Bay Rum QED Wild Rose QED Bathtub Gin QED Sandalwood QED Frankincense and Myrrh TGQ Sandalwood TGQ Cavendish Black TGQ Bay Rum w/ orange something Trumper's Rose Trumper's Violet Institut Karite soap remains my favorite thus far
I've tried many, but I'd still like to try: Penhaligon's (English fern, Blenheim) Floris (no.89 perhaps) TGQ soaps (not sure of the flavor I'd like) TSD soaps (not sure of the flavor I'd like) so.....who'll be sending those my way?
+1 on the English Fern, I keep putting off getting it for some reason! Probably because I keep buying razors.... and I have far too many soaps as it is. However, I do have the Blenheim and you would have to do very nasty things to me to get that out of my grasp. I treated it to a Jet Black Penhalagons soap bowl (very classy) strangely; I only use it with my Mastro Livi as it is my favorite razor at the moment. (Pure luxury I guess)
I have the Penhaligons English Fern Soap, lathers nicely, shaves ok ....scent is not very good and barely resembles the cologne.... I have the old tallow based formula, the new formula will be coming out soon and I think for the most part is veggie based. Hope they improved the scent.... A good soap, but don't know that it's worth the lofty price..... YMMV.............. How is the scent on the Blenheim Bouquet soap?
I very recently purchased a Tryphon Old Barbershop shaving stick. Why I didn't shave with it yet? For sure by Monday--it smells amazing!
I would like to try : Art of Shaving Sandalwood L'Occitane Vetiver Speik Tabac Burt's Bees Penhaligon's (anything) Olivia's (anything) Some favorites of mine: :drool TSD Vetiver SS Fraser's Blix De Ver Gulde Hand WELEDA SC Haslinger SS
That's a hell of an endorsement, judged against the field you listed. This one just went up near the top of my to-try list. Others: Provence Sante Pre de Provence D.R. Harris Gold-Dachs
Hi Dave, For me, it is a great soap....the 25% shea just works well for my skin type and I always seem to get a very nice shave using the IK...either with a DE or Straight.... I do recommend you give it a try, Provence Sante and Pre de Provence as also very nice... YMMV though
