Thanks! It's really turned into the shave of the afternoon because I wanted to clean the home and that took longer than anticipated.

    Sorry no fancy picture.
    Pre: Noxema
    Soap: Lea original shave cream
Post: cold water-alum block-home made skin food with aspirin-Speik Aftershave and Soap Commander Refreshment(sweet tea) balm.

    Blade: Astra superior platinum
Razor: Fat boy dialed to 7.
    Brush: Stirling synthetic

Haven't used a cream in a while and I've been meaning to use my new tube of Lea that I've had laying around. Great clean scent and paired really well with the Speik and Soap Commander Refreshment balm. The cream did dry up a bit, but overall performed well for me. My homemade blend of skin food has kept me irritation and redness free since I've been using it. Great bbs and irritation free shave this evening!

August 13 - Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Final shave for the Prime Platinum from Dorco so the Fatboy is wide open and ready to go. Using the Fat for a week straight has the puck in perfect condition for quick loads with a slightly damp synthetic brush. Face lathers are quick and easy and I'm loving it. With six shaves left on the Dorco blades I have almost another full week of Fat goodness to go!

The quick report on this shave is smooth, two passes and touch ups to another BBS finish (second in a row) and the alum is just a bit warm but not bad. My conclusion - this is a different blade (or at least finish) than the basic ST-301 by Dorco. Definitely sharper. With too much pressure this could have been a hot alum night. On the middle setting (6) this blade produced a great BBS with very little irritation if any. Can't fault it for any of its three shaves, but that was its best.

I'm looking forward to trying the Titan the next three days. We'll see if it has a discernible difference to the first two. Hope your weekend gets off to a great start! Early morning for me as I'm squeezing in a requested job interview before heading to work. We'll see how much hot air I'm getting aimed my way by these people.
