Winter is finally here and even here in Montreal it's starting to get white from some snow and it's cold outside, and what do I use on a cold morning when it's:

Menthol Monday:

Level A all the way - that is how cold this menthol set-up is. Oh, before I forget - the Palmolive Cool cream is the Palmolive Menthol version which is marketed for the Balkan countries, such as Romania, Moldova, Croatia, Serbia, and Bulgaria. It's just about the IDENTICAL delightfully-scented and face-freezing cream with the same wonderful lather and skincare as the Italian stuff. Once again I advise those who don't have a good tolerance of strong menthol to keep away from this Diana Sport balsam because it's so intense. The Barbon aftershave has a very potent cooling sensation also - it's a top favorite of mine!

I wish to get Rolls in my collection once. Love that 'crazy machinery' things! A nice dream I tried to get one some times, but no success yet. Anyway, I know the day will come sooner or later!

Never really thought I would look forward to Mondays... but a Menthol Monday is just a different kind of Monday. Started off trying a new blade today; the Timor. I read some really great things about it but my experience wasn't so good. It didn't seem very sharp so it had a lot of trouble cutting through my hard whiskers. I was really struggling on the chin area so I decided to swap the blade out for a new Feather. I am glad I did. Man, what a difference! I will give the Timors one or two more tries but if I get the same results, there will be a Timor blade PIF coming your way soon. The OC head on this razor is a very good match for me. It gives me a *very* close and comfortable shave. Total BBS finish today! I just love the Proraso Green line of products. I hope they will make the Green ASB available again in the future. As far as I know it has been discontinued. Let's hope this is not the beginning of the dreaded Shavepocalypse!

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Merkur/Menthol Monday December 17, 2012​

• Prep: Brush soaked in warm water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
• Razor: Merkur 500 Progress
• Blade: Polsilver SI
• Brush: Vintage restored with TGN 18mm Silvertip
• Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus with added Menthol
• ASB: Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm (the "old" original formula)
• AS: Mennen Skin Bracer with added Menthol
• Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

This has become my standard Monday shave, about the only variable is mixing up blades or switching between the Skin Bracer and Aqua Velva.

I bowl lathered today because I wanted to add more menthol. It is much too warm for this time of the year, the high is expected to be a balmy 49°F (9°C) way too warm for this time of the year...I need it cold and this combination gave me a nice freeze this morning.

Polsilver SI proves once again that my favorite blade in Muhle R41,perhaps only Astra Superior Stainless is similar in a ratio sharpness/smoothness.
For a great shave was a great contribution Gada Cool Mint which became my favorite menthol cream.

Odd shave. My Best is....now my worst. However the Astrale I took to the hones last night just for the heck of it because it's been subpar since it came out of the factory. Tried the Astrale out and it was the velvet squeegie this morning. So....Best goes back to the hones tonight to see if I can fix this up.

A very refreshing shave! I received the Fitjar soap from my secret Santa and I already know that this is one of those soaps that when it is gone it is going to be a sad day. This stuff lathers great and pairs very well with my TSD Iced SubZero products.

After the luxury of three comfortable passes, warm water rinse, cold water splash. Pat dry the face a splash of Pinaud Three Flowers, and TSD Angel milk.
A superior DFS.

 

Today's shave was so I wouldn't look ate up in my uniform.

Prep: warm water on the face
Razor: 1959 Ball End Tech made in Argentina.
Brush: Semogue 1305.
Blade: Personna Lab.
Soap: Palmolive Shave Stick.
Post shave: Cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Rose Petal.

It looks like the South American razor is something I can use to much avail. The Palmolive Shave Stick worked pretty good too. This set up right here is my ideal travel set up. My experiment about "less is better" is working out fantastically.

First time using the Super Max Titanium blade and I am very much impressed! It was super smooth and comfortable to use; me likey!
The Cadet TP-26 CC is a great razor as well and the Super Max Ti is a great blade for it. I posted very late today due to our power being off for 12 hours after a rainy windy storm. I have a total electric house and when the power goes off it's back to the stone ages. We are even out of water as the well pump doesn't work. Oh the joys of rural living!
