Well, 2013 is winding down and winter is here in all its glory. (yuck!) Let's see some nice pictures for this coming week!

    Menthol Monday:

L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new Permasharp
Godrej Menthol Mist SC :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balm :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Osage Rub AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Aramis Stick Deodorant
    Aramis EdT

One of the finest and most frigid set-ups a menthol addict like myself can choose. The L'Oreal facial wash becomes quite cooling when it's on your face for a couple of minutes. The Godrej Menthol Mist cream is powerful in cooling and the Diana Sport balm is so cold that it can make your eyes tear and your nose run. Slap on the Rubby Dubby Doo when you're finished, and you'll shiver for an hour! ;) :D

The Frank Shaving finest badger face-lathered KFM Cool Mint very nicely. I love this "moisture shave" cream. Two passes and a little touch-up on the neck left me clean and smooth. A cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS was the icing on the cake for this fine shave. Only one shave left in this year.

    Monday:

Prep: Hot compress, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: Beeline Boar
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Vanishing Menthol ASB

I feel like the Simpson brush is starting to spoil me. As much as I've enjoyed using my Beeline Boar brush, it was harder making a good lather with it than it has been with the Simpson Best Badger. The Bic is still going fairly strongly, though noticeably less sharp than when I first put it in the FaTip - which may not be so horrible, considering that first shave with it. I'm beginning to thing the Bic may simply be the sharpest of the blades I've used, which makes it require more care in an aggressive razor like a FaTip. The Lucky Tiger froze my face pretty well, though again absorption is an issue with my skin type.

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
Soap: Los Angeles Shaving Soap-Santa Monica Bay Rum
    Razor: British Gillette Slim Twist
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar-24mmx54mm
    Aftershave: Pinaud V.I. Bay Rum

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

This was the 3rd shave with my Gillette Slim Twist and the GSB. I tried the LASS Bay Rum, and bowl lathered today. The LASS whipped up a great Bay Rum lather. I got a very nice smooth, close shave. The LASS Bay Rum scent is great! I finished with the V.I. Bay Rum.

Poor shave this morning. I tried something a little different with the edge and I guess it wasn't successful. I'll tune it up and give it a go again tomorrow. Have a good one.

Prep: Warm shower, Corn Huskers Lotion
    Razor: Weber PH
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    Cream: DR Harris Windsor
    Brush: Semogue 830
Post: Witch Hazel, Corn Huskers Lotion
    Aftershave: Old Spice

DFS+ this morning. This was my first time using the DR Harris Windsor and I had a little trouble getting a suitable lather. I'm using a sample of the cream and it is very dry. It is almost to the point of acting like a soap. I finally whipped up a nice yogurt-like lather and had a very nice shave. I was enjoying the shave so much that I was a little disappointed when I was finished.

    Have a great day!

    Monday:
    hot shower
    Somersets PSO
    Gem G Bar 2+ passes / Parker 80R 1 pass
    Gem (2) / Astra Superior Platinum (2)
    Omega boar
Proraso Green (sample) in a warm mug
    Brut AS

First time shaving with the Gem G Bar and I got the same kind of results I've gotten with almost every SE shave I've tried to date. I've got six different SE razors and I always seem to make lots of noise but never seem to reduce the stubble. For now I'm going to chalk it up to operator error and keep practicing. I grabbed my DE and did a quick 1 pass just to feel smooth.
The temps are going to plummet this week but I decided to celebrate Menthol Monday anyways and even went for the tingly deodorant.

possibly. they're said to require a bigger learning curve but as with everything YMMV. With my results with my Ever ready 1924 shovelhead I've sold nearly all my DE's. Less irritation and a closer shave plus I'm in love with that sound! You re using the head flat against the face and using very short strokes?

Thanks. My first 3 brushes turned out to be all Ivory handles and since then I decided to shake things up and spice up the whole shave den collection.

    Pre: Billy Jealousy Hot Towel
    Razor: Gillette New Open Comb
    Blade: Feather (4)
    Brush: Berkeley 46 in Best
Soap: Stirling Orange (Orange Chill sample from Ryan B)
    Post: Alum, RazoRock AS wax

I was given a little kit of Billy Jealousy shaving product for Xmas. It included the pre-shave, latherless shave cream, and post shave. This Pre-shave deemed "Hot Towel" actually heats up your face. I wanted to see if it worked well enough that I could skip out on using actual hot towels if I were to shave without showering first. Seemed to do pretty good job. My lather wasn't fantastic. Not sure if that's just because I am not good with soaps, or because the pre-shave interfered. I might use the same set up next shave minus the Hot Towel and see if the lather is better.

Note: Second time with this razor that I've gotten a small nick under my nose. Is it just me or are open combs a little more prone to nicking under the nose than a bar. I've never nicked myself there with a bar but this is the second time in about 2 weeks I've done it with this razor and my Fattip open comb.
