IMHO the Black Beauty is a 1x blade. The shave was close no irritation but was rough. The Portable however is a fairly aggressive razor with a lot of blade exposure.

my first ever DE shave!

I just shaved for the first time with my new DE!

with Jeff's guidance, all went really well. I'm just a bit hesitant to go upwards, so I'll continue to go downwards for 2 brush sessions for the time being. This De Vergulde Hand smells beautiful, and the lather it gives is terrific. The Anherb stuff is very cooling and also smells nice.
