This morning's was so bad I had to go again... Razor: '64 ball-end Tech Blade: '54 Gillette Thin Brush: VV badger Cream: C.O. Bigelow A/S: Pinaud Clubman Not as close as the better/newer blades I've used, but much closer, and a much more pleasant *experience* overall than the Blue in the red tip this morning. Just for the sake of a complete comparison, I'm thinking of trying the Blue in the Tech tomorrow morning.
Following Churchill's lead here's a fly fish shave theme. Razor: Gillette 195 Blade: Dorco 301 day 1 Brush: re knotted Erskine Lather: TOBS Avocado A/S: Witch Hazel
Very nice Chris! See you even went with the Avocado. I've considered starting the fly fishing quest,it seems to be getting pretty popular down here on the bays.
Merkur HD Crystal Rooney 3, 1 Connaught Spearmint cream The Shave Den Sub Zero splash I couldn't resist an evening shave after this showed up... I loaded a skin friendly Crystal blade into my trusty HD and proceeded to get an excellent shave. I've been wanting to try a spearmint scented cream or soap for a long time now. The Connaught cream produces a lather similar to JM Frasers. The scent was great and it had just enough cooling to be pleasant on this warm winter Texas night. I might have a new favorite cream based on scent alone..
Friday 3/6 Penchetta Penworks Silvertip La Toja S/C NEW Open Comb Gillette 7 O'Clock black Thayer's Alcohol Free Original Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes, & Peppercorn Splash Result: Very nice shave, BBS and no irritation . So far so good with my new NEW.
Friday: Omega Silvertip Lord Super/7 AM day 2 Ingram S/C Lubriderm unscented moisturizer Floid Classic A/S Santos de Cartier EDT This Lord Super razor gives me fantastic shaves, and it's easy to use also, and not heavy. It's also a pretty mild razor.
Friday Taking it easy today.. slept in did a little less prep and only did 2 passes. Good enough for a Friday. Soap: p.160 Brush: GN-ER Razor: Bullet end micromatic Blade: ASR SE from CVS AS: Booster Ice
Good Friday all... '51 Gillette Black Tip w/Dorco 301(3) Trumper Super Badger Cremo Cream/Tom's sc Thayer's Original WH/Murray & Lanham Florida Water GFT Coral Skin Food ASB (sample) GFT Curzon Cologne (sample) A fine combo lather provided a great base for the '51/Dorco pairing and three passes yielding a BBS result to start the weekend. Have a great day. Nathan
After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep: Shavemac 22mm silvertip fatboy/feather AOS SC (with bay rum EO added) Lucky Tiger AS vintage Old Spice (used as cologne) Excellent shave! Martin
Friday Rooney 3/1 super Arko shave stick Red tip with a fresh Crystal blade Master bay rum aftershave I don't like rubbing shave sticks across my face - though I do prefer to lather directly on my face. So I mold the sticks into containers and lather as I would with a hard soap. I've found that an Arko stick fits perfectly in an empty Erasmic shave bowl.
TGIF: Lord Smart Razor / Sharp Stainless d3 / Arko SS / Boreal 322 brush / Old Spice Aftershave D3 is the end for the Sharp but still a darn fine shave
FRIDAY Merkur 11C Dollar General blade d-3 TSD Sweetgrass Soap Paela Burl Silvertip 24mm Fruit Of Earth Aloe Pinaud Clubman Bay Rum
Friday... trying to do to much with too little: Razor(s): '64 Tech/'57 Red Tip Blade(s): '54 Blue day 2/'54 Thin day 2 Brush: VV badger Soap: Tabac A/S: Old Spice The Blue in the Tech was less painful, but no less awful than yesterday. I had the Thin in the Red Tip after swapping the blades out, and went to it in desperation for the third pass when it became obvious that there was no hope for this shave. It really made no difference. All it did was kill off any further interest in using the old Blues or Thins no matter how new and shiny they may look.
