Today I decided to restart using a few samples and the choice has fallen (don’t worry: it didn’t get hurt…) on a Chiseled Face that I used about six months ago and which, it seems, I liked better than I did today.
I suspect it’s because I didn’t soften it with hot water.

But it’s sophistry: the shaving was great and, last but not least, the compilation that I did time ago has some pieces that give me goosebumps: Summertime sung by Roberta Alexander, a lyrical soprano with a voice that would raise a dead from the grave!
Only Kiri Te Kanawa gave me a similar feeling when I first heard her in Greensleeves.

Apart from the sun, an enviable start to the day!

    Friday morning:

    Neutrogena Men Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Derby day 7
    Bundubeard Rooi Afrikaner SS
    Nivea Sensitive ASB
    English Leather AS Splash

I wish I could get more use from my blades but it seems to be impossible because my beard is so tough that it’s a miracle they even last a week. Ever since I discovered Jaco’s soaps I’ve just about become addicted to them - this Rooi Afrikaner is tallow based and it has everything going for it - a very nice scent, rich, thick, easy to create lather which is so slick as well as protective, and wonderful skincare. The Nivea balm’s scent to me is subpar but it does a great job of cooling and soothing my skin. The English Leather aftershave stung me for a couple of seconds but then it felt so soothing. Despite the Derby blade being at the end it hung in there to help me get a lovely three pass BBS shave!

Have a good weekend - be safe and healthy!

    Friday:

hot shower with Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    Parker 80R 3+ passes
    Gillette Platinum Plus (2)
Mystery soap/cream in a warm bowl
    Dubl Duck boar
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar A/S

Not sure what soap/cream I used today as it was leftovers in the bottom of one of my bowls. Normally I rinse my bowls clean after each shave but sometimes if I'm overly generous with product I just leave it for the next time.

The Gillette Platinum Plus will get binned. Not a terrible shave but not enjoyable as this brand seems to have a bit of a harsh edge on my face.
