    Razor - Rapira El-Cheapo
    Blade - [IMG]
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Boy these shaving gods. They watch me pick up the wrong razor last night, load it wrong and commit butchery, then turn around and hand me the Rapira razor tonight. This el-cheapo isn't exactly high quality nor does it give great shaves normally. It's usable, and you can find it stamped Gillette with some other blades as well. Mine came as a freebie with some Rapira Platinum Lux blades from Russia. It first earned the distinction of making a Voskhod blade rough the first time I used it. That's pretty bad.

Well, in their more merciful judgment they did give me the Jeeves Bay Rum and the JR54 for lather. That's a good thing. And, they handed me the classic Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum Blue blade. This is a pretty rare blade these days. In fact, I looked at Ebay just to see what was available and found a few. One seller, bless his heart, shows a stack of them for sale but then in the description has a disclaimer that "packaging may be different". In other words, you'll probably get the black wrappers which are the next generation blades and not nearly as good as the original blues. So, with that blade and the lather - there's hope.

If there's one lesson we've all learned on here it's technique trumps tools. If there's a second lsson it's ride the cap. So, I made an outstanding lather, loaded the blade and got up on the cap. Rode that baby all the way across my face for three passes. WTG, XTG, ATG and kept the angle solid on the cap. Brought the baby home.....almost. We'll call it near-BBS. And the alum was only mildly warm on my neck. With the thin metal in this razor and its tendency to bow the blade toward the ends that's a pretty good result. No blood tonight and the existing cuts didn't reopen. A win!

The weekend is upon us again and I hope you have a great one!

    Bath Soap - Brut Classic

    Razor - Stirling Soap's Slant
    Blade - [IMG] *Fresh Blade
Shave Brush - 22mm "Synthia" Chrome Synthetic Nylon
    Chrome Razor/Brush Stand

Suribachi Lather Bowl handmade by Of the Dirt Pottery (not pictured)
Shave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Et Tu"
Aftershave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Et Tu"
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Post-Shave Balm - Nicci Marie Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Aging Face Serum
    Deodorant - Brut Classic
Fragrance - Brut Prestige Silver EDT

Did PAA completely discontinue Et Tu???

***EDIT - The Stirling Soap's Slant and BiC CP blade shaved true and smooth today. I'm really loving the result. I did get a tiny bit of irritation from attempting a BBS today, but the Shave Den's unscented/mentholated Witch Hazel came to the rescue to calm the irritation. 9.5/10 shave and it would have been a '10' if not for the spotty irritation, which was of my own making due to pushing the limits of what my skin would allow.

    Pre-shave: Shower with Ivory soap
    Razor: '52 Gillette Super Speed
Blade: Merkur Super Platinum: 2nd Shave
    Soap: Yardley Shea Buttermilk
    Brush: Klenzo B75 boar
After Shave Lotion: 50/50 blend: Barbasol Brisk/Wrangler

Today's shave was kinda special. Took the Klenzo brush out for a whirl--this is the only keepsake I have of my maternal Grandfather, who passed before I was even born. A small brush, it certainly looks wimpy and sheds a few hairs every time I use it, but it easily makes lather in copious amounts.

I haven't taken the Super Speed out in quite a few years. With the Merkur it yielded an exceptionally close shave. In fact, as I type this post some 11 hours after shaving, I still feel like I shaved only a couple of hours ago. With my fast-growing beard, that is really remarkable.

As with the Merkur/Tech combo, I ended up with a few weepers that my A/S had no trouble mending. SOTD 2018 11 16.JPG

    Good morning
    And a great Saturday morning

    20181117_062242.jpg
Well, with a chioce of 4 just arrived tools, I picked what might be the oldest in my stash. A great shave if I may say so. Never thought that these 80, 90 or 100 year old razors preform like they do until I drew one across the skin a few months ago. Thanks to @Rev579 for letting go of this one.
A nice easy, close 3x2 job well done.
The only down side of todays work was the after shave lotion. I like a thicker brew and the aroma reminded me of a womens perfume. This is not my style of sent or feel. The first and last time for this stuff. There are a few guys that have went to DE razors (yes, it was my fault for them converting) I can give it to them to try out.
    Anyway, happy Saturday everyone
    enjoy

My penultimate shave with this wonderful little razor, I've been trying to string it out as long as possible but unfortunately I have to pass it on.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Musgo Real Shaving Soap face lathered well with Tom's 3D Printed Badger brush. I did two passes with the J.A. Henckels 5/8 Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Hectic work week and haven’t posted as much but, this one was really good......

    Vector &Schick Proline #3
    Graydog Keyhole 26mm “Ghost”
    B&M Seville Reserve soap
    Thayers W/H Peach Astringent
    B&M Seville Reserve a/s splash

Cloudy, overcast, doom & gloom. It was a hell of a shave! The Vector needs no introduction as it gets it done, period. Now, the Seville in Reserve? Woo-Wee! That is some awesome soap Gents. Got lucky and picked up a practically unused set soap & a/s splash off of the B/S/T recently. Not a single regret in acquiring it. Slick, copious amounts of the lather and residual is on par with some of The Best you want to throw at it. Post was just spine tingling good. Oh, and the JMP Tatto Jungle Man is perhaps the best compliment to the Seville I’ve ever tried. And dirt, dirt cheap. Have a great day and amazing shaves Boys... :eatdrink047:
