If you have trouble getting a decent lather with the GMS soap, just convert it to a shower soap. That's what I did with one of mine. I loved the scent, and the skin conditioning...but did not lather to my expectations. So nothing wasted.

    Razor: Parker 22r
    Blade: Astra
    Cream: Ingram
    Brush: TBS

After working 10 and 11 hour days this week (one more 10 and 6 on Saturday) I was in need of a refreshing invigorating shave. The Ingrams came to mind and the nice creamy lather and cooling sensation (still lingering :) ) was just what I needed. I am now a menthol man!

Friday has finally arrived! And my very own shave ritual this morning consisted of:

    Logona Mann shave cream pre-shave-treatment
    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Dubai shave soap
Mühle Basic shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cobra Classic SE
    Feather Professional blade (6. shave)
    Bloc Osma Alum
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

The stubble seemed a bit feisty this morning, from my Intel I gathered that they were going to put up a fight. Hah! They underestimated the power of a very thorough prep (or, as we call it, a solid 'mise-en-place')

First off, a good face-wash while in the shower. This was followed up with lathering up the Logona Mann shave cream while still being in the shower. I left the stubble to marinate in that lather for a couple of minutes. Rinse when exiting shower, and on came Musgo most excellent pre-shave oil. This continued the stubble-tenderizing and skin-prepping process while I started to load the brush on the Calani Dubai puck. A thorough and highly enjoyable face-lathering process of a few minutes and the stubble was good to go. and go it went, didn't even pick up that fight, despite the Feather blade being on it's sixth Tour of Duty. No pulling, no tugging, zero resistance. And I ended up with a definite DFS++ in only 2 passes.

And, contrary to my usual practice of ditching a blade, any blade, on Friday (if it lasts that long) and loading a fresh one the following Monday, I will in fact continue using this particular blade next week and see how far I can push it with the right prep. I am really curious if I can get to 8 or maybe even 10 shaves with it!

To all of you, I wish you a splendid weekend and great shaves!

Well the end of another week in paradise and here also. I can't help thinking that it is a sad state when the most pleasant and anticipated part of the day is shaving. Don't get me wrong, it has become a wonderful part of my day. But just saying it seems as if there should be more good things also in the day. But you know I have discovered that Gillette is telling the truth. Since I started wet shaving and using DE blades my Mach 3 carts are lasting for several months, of course the only use/movement is it being moved farther and farther out of the way of my real shaving activities.

And this morning those activities were:
warm water face wash TBS Maca Root Face wash
    warm water rinse
    Proraso pre post cream
    more warm water over that
    then Cade shave soap puck
three pass with the Merkur HD and 7 AM blade (the blade is on day 5 and still going strong)
    then Cade after shave balm
    and Clubman AS

Not quite BBS everywhere (that pesty spot right under the chin still isn't cooperating) but the next best thing to it. All week so far I have been wanting to use my Tabac shave cream so maybe tomorrow!

    JHL Cologne :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

My first shave with the Ralon cream which I received from a hell of a nice guy here, and I think it's good stuff. The consistency of the cream is a little watery compared to other creams, but it has good lather and a nice scent. The skincare is pretty good as well. The Booster aftershaves have always been top favorites of mine. ;) :D

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Friday November 30, 2012
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaking in hot mentholated water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless
    Brush: Semogue 620
Cream Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus with added Menthol
AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue with added Menthol
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

There was so much menthol in today's shave that my eyes started to burn. What I think got me was adding the menthol crystals to the hot water, that filled up the bathroom with menthol vapors. Now add that to a menthol soaked brush, extra menthol added to the shaving cream, along with menthol aftershave, it nearly become a menthol version of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

The DE89 performed flawlessly, I need to make a note to myself to use it more often with Feathers. Feathers just work for me. I never get any tugging, I find them to be smooth (although others do not), and I can always get three good shaves out of them.

I am using this Aqua Velva at an unbelievable rate. I looked at my SOTD pics and I have used it for nine shaves this month, and the Aqua Velva Musk for five shaves. I guess that I am an Aqua Velva man.

I wish you non straight users could experience a shave with a sharp old Sheffield wedge, just sublime. Very nice shave this morning. I'm off today and the weekend and have a few projects planed. I have a couple of 28mm knots that are new and not readily available for sale yet. They look great. I was expecting them but thought they would be in the 23mm range so I'll have to make a couple handles. Have a good one.
