I was listening to some vintage Congolese rumba from Le Grand Maitre Franco et le Tout Puissant OK Jazz, and I was even singing a little at one point--ah, la vie est belle! :D

    Wednesday 10/15 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
[*]Brush: Vintage Ever Ready 150 B
      [*]Cream: C&E Sandalwood
[*]Razor: 1912 Gold GEM with standard handle
      [*]Blade: GEM by Personna SE
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

[*]Result: Nice and comfortable BBS shave. No blood either. Used the vintage ER brush that was my father-in-law's. Made decent lather but did not hold a lot of it. Could get enough lather for 3 passes but not a 4th for my head. Brush is not very dense. Can't believe I got 5 nice shaves out of the SE blade. Only the Pella blade I sampled did that.

For those with good memories who recall an earlier post of mine in which I called the Toggle a "Gold Fat Boy with a strange handle", that was definitely intended to be tongue-in-cheek. A Toggle is about as similar to a Fat Boy as a Lexus to a Chevy. This is a fantastic shaver, and well worth every penny I paid for it.

I have a toggle too and regrettably it felt clumsy in my hand when I shaved. Probably because I like to hold my razor by the very end of the handle between two fingers letting the weight of the razor apply the pressure as it glides down my face. The toggle handle doesn’t seem to be built for this technique (YMMV of course). Otherwise it is a beautiful razor. And, your photograph is remarkable too.
