I'm more into the English shaving soaps and creams but, there are some great European shave sticks out there; Tabac, Speick, La Toja as well as tube soaps; pre de provence, Musgo, Jagger, etc. These are all reasonably priced and available from most suppliers on line. A lot of folks swear by the Cella shaving soap but, I had a very bad experience with it and can't force myself to give it another try. It is very reasonably price and supposed to give great performance and lather. My tub was rancid and really grossed me out! Others praise it however. The English soap such as Taylors of Bond Street, Harris and Salters are reasonably priced and are great performers as well as Thrumpers which is starting to get a little spendy. Those are some to give a try if you haven't already. Hope that helps. :)

    Razor: Gillette gold toggle (D1) 1958 (5)
    Brush: e-shave Badger
    Mug: VDH
    Cream: Maca Root
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black cooling gel, Tuscany
    image.jpg

The Maca Root whipped up thick lather, I really like this cream. Great cushion and no preshave needed. Ok, now for the setting on the toggle. Still on 5 as I dropped in a new Feather, checked the alignment and was good to go for my first pass WTG. So far so good, very close on this pass. A little rinse to see how we are doing and relather for a XTG pass on my face and ATG on my neck. Some more lather for touch up on my neck and we are done. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some Jack Black AS gel, then some Tuscany and all is good. Another DFS for my toggle. The extra weight and the great balance of the toggle make it very easy to just let the razor do the work, and enjoy the ride. I'm still on cloud 9.

I didn't notice the bee while taking the photo. I did see the bee afterwards trying to land on my hands.

Great looking brush! Did you install the knot? I have one of the handles on the way, for about 1 month. It just made it to the NY port Friday. Thinking of a WD Silvertip with some added weight in the handle.

Thanks! The vintage blades from the 1960s are excellent. Again, those were the blades that were on top in the 1960s so money and effort was spent in greater measure than DE blades of today.
If they are stored properly they outperform their modern day equivalents, but the prices on them are high so that places them in the special shave category versus the every day category.

You might want to consult our resident expert @crackstar on this matter. He might have a few tips on lather from Eastern Europe. ;)
