IMG_0544_1.JPG 444_gel_01-340x340.jpg _barbon_arcszesz_nagy.gif I know it's a little early to begin a new week, but I soon have to go out so here what's happening for me tomorrow.

    Menthol Monday:

    Omega Silver Handle
    Super Speed/new Sharp
Gada Cool Mint SC :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    444 AS Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barbon AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EDT

Freezing the face should be done with pride if you're a menthol lover like me, and with good stuff - for example, the Gada Cool Mint cream is one of the best cheap creams you can find. A really nice scent, awesome lather, and a HELL of a strong menthol sensation which lasts. The Barbon aftershave and 444 balsam are also very potent face-freezers. ;) :D

    Good morning.

After a full 5 days of spectacular shaves in a row last week, I decided to take out the Futur again for today’s Monday shave and load it with a blade of the same maker as last week’s – the Personna Medical Prep.

    Logona Mann shave cream
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Merkur Futur on 2.5
    Personna Medical Prep blade (2.)
    Bloc Osma alum
    Logona Mann after shave

A very good shave, the Futur loaded with the aforementioned Personna cleaned the weekend stubble up nicely in 1.5 passes (1 pass for the face and 2 passes for the neck). I still do like the Futur a lot, was nearly in love with it from the first shave but, after having had those fabulous 5 shaves last week with the Red Tip, I must admit that the fact of blades more vibrating (or “flexing”) in the Futur annoyed me a wee bit. It was just so much better before the weekend.

This week I should be receiving 2 more razors, a 34C HD which I never had the pleasure of and the Hoffritz Slant I scored last week. I did have a 37C Slant before, so should be basically the same.

Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead.

Great shave this morning. I think I'm in love with Acca Kappa. This is unusual for me, as normally, I have no brand loyalty and could care less what I'm shaving with as long as I like the scent and it "works". Well, we'll see how long the honeymoon lasts. Have a good one.

    • Prep: Brush soaking in cold water, face wash with Noxzema Triple Clean, cold shower
    • Razor: 1945 Shavety First Shake Sharp Razor
    • Blade: NOS Vintage Gillette Super Blue Blade (4)
    • Brush: Semogue 820 Boar

    • AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum
    • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave
Day number four with the Shavety First Shake Sharp and the Super Blue blade. Two and half passes with some touch-ups and buffing on the neck. Starting to feel the slightest amount of tugging on the blade and the neck needed more work today.

I decided to open my box of razors that I really don't want to use. I don't know what made me want to try these again but I'm glad I did. I loaded this Star razor with a GEM blade. It is a nice comfortably mellow shave. I did a three pass shave and I did get a few weepers but they were small ones. Overall I am happy with this days shave. I think I am going to use this razor for the next few days. Does anyone know what years these STAR razors are from?

On a related topic. Since we all seem to post about our shave of the day here, does anyone keep a written journal at home? I do so I thought I would ask.

    Burma Shave pure bristle brush

What is your 'shaking routine'? I gave it some 3 shakes between passes and 3 -or was it 5?- after the shave. That kept the blade sharp enough for me (7 shaves with one edge and still going strong)

    Gillette Old Type/Weber Wave Handle
    Astra Superior Platinum Blade
    Proraso PSC
    Speick SC
    Natural Bristle Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Aqua Velva Musk ASL/Coogne

Love the Gillette OT Weber Wave rig! The Old Type has always been an outstanding performer and the heft of the Weber handle makes it extremely effective. As always the Speick and AV Musk delivered a quality finishing touch to a close and comfortable shave. :happy088:

    Monday

Prep: Hot shower, TSD ISZ PSB, hand strop blade
CD: Taj Mahal ~ Blues with a Feeling; the Best of Taj Mahal
    Coffee: Starbucks French Roast, BLACK
    Cream: Tom's of Maine
    Brush: Semogue 2000
    Razor: Late 40's SS
Blade: Astra SP, day 1, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Osage Rub, Old Spice cologne, hand strop blade
    'Stache Wax: Steve's Own

This week of Give 'em Some Love week will feature different razors. Not that I don't use all of them, just some more than others.
This SS is just a bit mild for my liking. Not a bad shave today, just a little rough along the jaw line.

Nice! I used a Campbells soup mug just like that one for over 15 years until I retired it. :happy088:
