The new Clubman shave soap that is being shipped to me as I write reportedly has the Clubman Vanilla scent. I may use the Stirling Barbershop A.S. with it, as there's a lot of the same scent in that.

A quick but good, smooth shave this morning although I must admit that this Derby blade is pretty well too dull to even attempt to continue with. The Gillette Menthol cream is colder than I realized - in fact, it's almost as cold as the Palmolive Menthol cream. Its scent is quite nice, it lathers like mad, and the skincare is good although the Palmolive creams provide better post-shave care. The Aqua Velva went on as cold as hell afterwards. Madame dislikes the scent but she still kissed and hugged me!

 

That is an excellent photo of some fine pieces, Mark. That brush is beautiful.

Newspaper Date: Dec. 24,1943

An easy 2 pass, WTG and an ATG/XTG. The Hibco Closed Comb is so mild, it just glides over my skin, leaving nothing in it`s wake. On the 2nd pass, ATG was almost as easy, followed by a cross stroke where needed, a little clean up, resulting in a near Dolphin smooth shave. Happy camper this Sunday.

You're right Doug! It's not a Bay Rum scent at all. When naming it, because of the rum and woody notes in the fragrance, I imagined the old boats from prohibition days that used to smuggle rum into Florida. They were called...you guessed it...Rum Runners
