Look at that - October is almost at an end and November is almost here and soon winter (oh noooo!) will soon be here. Here is my set-up for tomorrow which is:

    Menthol Monday:

    Turkish Horsehair
    Super Speed/new 7 AM
Lea Menthol SC :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balsam :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barbon AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui EDT

Every Menthol Monday I use my Level A menthol stuff, because it's such a special day. The Lea Menthol cream delivers the lovely scent and rich lather and awesome skincare, and the menthol effect is like standing in front of the a/c. The Diana Sport balsam is the type of freeze which not too many guys I know can tolerate. The Barbon aftershave is not only frigid, it soothes and protects the skin from razor burn and irritation, and it also disinfects VERY well. ;) :D

I used the Gillette Spoiler for a fourth shave today and it was still pretty good. I may go for a 5th shave with the blade tomorrow (that would be a first for me). Let's see. Lot's of menthol this morning provided a nice, chilly and refresing shave. The Palmolive is very nice and lathers well. I also noticed that it is very gentle on the skin with no chemical irritation. I get great skin care from the Vifrex. The Barbon is new for me and reminds me a bit of my beloved Alcolado Glacial (which I am out of). But my brother is working on it. :) Just two days until Movember. I will participate this year by growing a Fu Manchu style moustache. Cheers Mo Bros! small-stache-3.gif Lyndon

The shaving soap I used was made by Slide of Life from the B&B forum. I just received it yesterday and this was the first time using it. It has a fantastic scent. My first thought was gun oil, but it's sweeter and less pungent than that. The performance is top notch. I easily got the exact type of lather I love and great glide. The face feel at the end was fantastic as well. It's too soon to tell, but this might end up being one of my favorite soaps. I have no idea if he sells the stuff or if this is just a hobby, but I'm very glad to have the soap!

    • Razor: Merkur 41R 1904 Open Comb mounted to iKon Bulldog Handle

Although the 1904 is a mild razor, I find when paired with a Feather it provided a great shave. Three passes with some light buffing on my neck provided near BBS results. A great way to start the work week.

Tuesday, Day 2 of my trip:

    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
Sapone di Barba Naturale alla Mandorla shave soap
Mühle Travel shave brush in Nickel, with Silver Tip Fibre
    Merkur 11C open comb
    Feather FH-10 blade (2.)
    Bloc Osma alum
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

The Feather / 11C Combo continues to perform outstandingly, as always. Am getting a good vibe from this shave soap which is new to me, yesterday and today being the first 2 time I feelt, smelled and used it. Very nice, just the 'almond' scent is alctually very remniscent of 'marzipan' - oh well, Christmas is around the corner, a fitting scent therefore.

Oct. 29, 2012 - Special Hurricane Sandy edition

Preparation:Hot Shower, pre-shave-w/ Whole Foods 365 Glycerin Soap
    Razor: Cadet TP-26 Open Comb
    Blade:Treet Dura Sharp (3)
    Brush:: Semogue 1800
    Cream/Soap:Mike’s Natural Barbershop soap
    Lathering Technique:Face Lathered
Aftershave:Cold Water Splash / Clubman / Unrefined Shea Butter

Third use of the Treet Dura Sharp, started out with the Merkur 34c and suprisingly it wasn’t cutting it, seemed rough and not that sharp. Popped the blade into the Cadet TP-26 and the blade matched it’s previous wonder leading to a wonderful, easy BBS shave..

    29 October Monday.
It great to be back posting.

A great hot shower to start the day.
The last day of using the loaner H.I.S synthetic brush. It lathered up Derby Menthol for today's shave.
Before lathering my face, I prepped my with pre shave soap using Proraso.
Razor and blade change this morning. Picked a Superspeed and loaded up with a Dorco blade.

Nice gentle warm water rinse, followed with the briskness of a cold water splash. Facial rub with RazoRock Don Marco.
    A great DFS.

    Mama Bear's Iced Lilac Soap
    Merkur 38c
    Derby
    Master's Lilac Vegetol Splash
    Ahava AS Balm
    tunes-Beatles Anthology 1

-first, too much water made for soupy thin lather
-Derby (which gave me two fine shaves last week in this razor) turned on a dime and became harsh causing a styptic requiring cut
-it wasn't only the bad lather, I've had decent shaves with worse lather, plus I had the Beard Lube under the soup
-salvaged with reloading brush and my Weber which was loaded with a Rapira (4th use) and gave a nice second (final) pass
-I suppose the occasional stinkers make me appreciate the smooth/comfortable shaves
-hoping for a better shave tomorrow:)

I face lathered today with the comfy Frank Silvertip fan-shaped brush. The Gillette cream was a pleasure to use and I enjoyed the nice strong menthol sensation. The British Tech provided a shave that was close yet very comfortable. The Edwin Jagger ASB is good but I am trying to use it up. The quality of the packaging is very poor. Firstly, the locking pump rotates too freely and it is hard to tell when it is lined up in the open position. Secondly, the bottle has been coated with a thin plastic that easily breaks down leaving tiny bits of small black plastic all over the place. You will notice in the photo that I had to tape up the bottom of the bottle to stop this from happening. Parked next to the mediocre EJ ASB is the awesome Floid ASL. It is very gentle and soothing and has a low alcohol content. Overall, a very comfortable BBS shave today.
