I'm thinking that with a modern modified DE blade, I'll get it to my usual two passes and a bit of touch up.

    Pre-shave: hot shower
    Shaving cream: TOBS Jermyn Street
    Brush: Synthetic Omega Hi-Brush
    Razor: Vintage bullet-tip Micromatic
    Blade: Gem Stainless (3)
Post-shave: Thayer's Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm, Jovan Musk AS / Cologne

Historically, I've found that I can't get 3 shaves with these Gem SE blades, but today I did. It was very comfortable, no issues at all. I like this Gem Micromatic razor, even though it's only the second time I've used it. I love the scent of this TOBS Jermyn Street shaving cream. I'm not very good at describing scents but suffice it to say this is a favorite of my limited collection. Also, I haven't used the Jovan at all for a very long time, but I'm enjoying the scent now. It used to be a favorite of mine many years ago when shaving wasn't fun.

    Enjoy the day, everyone!

    Pic from the finish tonight.

    Bulldog face wash
    TOBS Sandalwood
    Badger brush from China??
    Gillette Tech
    Astra SP
    A little alum,
    And Proraso Post Shave Balm.

I'm sticking with the same razor (and fighting urges to use new ones) but I think my 30 day focus has been lost somewhat... used a new brush tonight that I received this week.

It shed a couple of hairs but it was dirt cheap, delivered. Pretty good value. I dont own any other badger brushes but it's definitely whet my appetite for a Simpson or Rooney.

I also swapped the usual Nivea for Proraso tonight as my shave was excellent and I felt it deserved the upgrade.

    Williams Wednesday's SE Shave

    zcws.gif

    Proraso Pre Shave
    Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #216
    Gem Push-Button
    CVS SE
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Vegetal

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #216 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem Push-Button razor and a CVS blade. I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Clubman Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

RAZOR: Micro Touch One - TTO DE and a good shaver at that, if I could only remember...
BLADE: Astra Superior Platinum DE blade
BRUSH: Rubberset #153 - otherwise known as "Dad's Old Brush"- a very small boar? brush with lot's of backbone.
PRESHAVE: NONE - hot water rinse
SOAP: Erasmic Shave Stick - 3rd time trying this product AND I HAD A PROBLEM!
POST SHAVE: Clubman JUMBO Styptic Pencil
AFTER SHAVE: Murray & Lanman Florida Water Cologne - clean scent and good skin-soothing finish to the shave. I needed that!
    Micro_One_Erasmic_Conk_FlaWater.jpg
    I HAD A PROBLEM!
As I am applying the Erasmic shave stick to my face, I suddenly go into a sneezing fit. Don't get me wrong, I really like the smell of this soap.
Dad's Old Brush is just NOT cutting it with this soap. The face lather is thin, and not that slick. More water, more scrubbing! NOT GOOD.
1st pass - As I'm contemplating what is going wrong with the lather, I loosen the TTO on the Micro One. Ouch - I just cut myself (minor scratch).
I know better having done it before, but I am easily distracted (I guess)?

2nd application of the Erasmic... scrub, scrub, scrub. Not a good lather, too thin. It must be the brush.
2nd pass shaving - WAIT a minute, my face is starting to burn. Feels like I am applying alcohol to a sunburn.
I do NOT consider myself to have sensitive skin. I rush through the 2nd pass to get this lather off my face and rinse. Not getting BBS either.
The rinse feels great, extinguishing the face fire.

OK, for the 3rd pass, I rinse the brush thoroughly and call in my dependable hybrid Col.Conk BAY RUM/VDH Luxury soap.
Excellent soothing, nourishing face lather, great slickness, a wonderful recovery to a full BBS shave!
Left with a good face feel, but a bit of tenderness. Then the styptic revived the fire (I applied it to my entire face to judge the shave).
Finished with the healing power of a generous splash of Murray & Lanman Florida Water! Whew! Glad that one is over.

I need to figure out what went wrong with the Erasmic. I may try to bowl lather with different brushes to see if I can improve.
Hope I haven't developed a sensitivity to this soap.

    Razor: Gillette SS
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword (3)
    Lather: Gillette Foamy in can
AS: Brut Splash On (not shown
    Newspaper Date: Nov. 7,1943

Some mornings aren't so great to be very active, I shaved at 6:15 am. WTG/ ATG light clean-up. A so-so shave, but good enough to go out in public. Not a close, clean shave by any means. Hoping for good shaves for all. God Bless to all.

Nice picture. I never had much luck with Erasmic. It was a case of disappearing lather for me. Tried different brushes and nothing seemed to help.
