  3. Hello Steve, The Raw Shaving RS-18 is one of the most interesting concepts in DE modern shaving, those folks went all out when they designed that razor with the lube strips and just the machining detail and quality of product. Glade you showed one, they are a rare razor.
  4. Sunday Schick shave, September 11th 2022

Razor : Schick E2 Canadian variant, Mfg in 1930's > 40's, excellent mid range, for a light razor a light touch works the best, Very enjoyable shave this morning.
Blade : Personna SS PTFE(9)very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely + predictable.
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier, nice scent with excellent lather qualities. The scent is similar to Aramis cologne they claim. It has been so long since I used Aramis cologne I'm not sure but I like this scent. Yaqi commissioned Master soap creations S.A for their line of soaps and fragrances.
Brush : Yaqi mysterious space 24mm Timber wolf whiskers synthetic, excellent lather generator
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Witch hazel beard cleanse + Musketeer Rapier splash + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=[IMG] excellent shave with my Schick E2 Canadian variant with a coated Personna blade.

    Have some great shaves!
  5. VERY nice! Love the razor. You tempt me! LOVE these SE razors
  6. I think these vintage razors are FAR superior to the cartridge razors that pass as a shaving tool these days. Most of what sells now is cheep plastic junk! I hated carts for the simple reason they clog so readily. I get much smoother shaves with my vintage Gillettes and all the single edge razors I have. Some over 100 years old now! They have cheapened the shaving experience in favor of profits.

  8. Sunday's Shave: In memoriam

My paternal Grandfather died September 11th, 1985. I got to watch him shave a few times...always Old Spice mug soap face-lathered with a battered old brush, a Gillette Atra razor, and Old Spice aftershave. Usually, he'd share a splash of Old Spice with me, and I loved smelling like my Grandpa. Once, I asked him why he didn't just use a can of Edge like my Dad, and he just smiled.

Grandpa was a grocer, and sold both Old Spice and Williams soap in his store, which he operated until 1981. I'll be using Williams soap and Vi-Jon's re-creation of Old Spice aftershave today.

My maternal Grandfather had passed away a year before I was born. Somehow, I inherited his shaving brush when Grandma died in 1999. I'll be using his brush today.

Face wash with Yardley Shea Buttermilk soap
Gillette Pre-War Tech with ball end handle
Gillette Platinum Plus blade (Brazil) - 2nd shave
    Williams mug soap
    Klenzo B75 150 brush
    Meijer (Vi-Jon) spice aftershave

Face-lathering the Williams with the small Klenzo brush was something of a chore. I had to reload the brush three times to get through the shave.

Shave quality: DFS. Went WTG, XTG across my chin only, then ATG. No nicks, weepers, or irritation. Noted that I had noticeable stubble just a couple hours after yesterday's Tech/Platinum Plus shave, and today's shave wasn't as close as yesterdays. Will load the Tech with a BiC Chrome Platinum the next time I deploy it.

Shave comfort: Flawless. 10 out of 10. Smoothness that puts most cartridge razors to shame. Splashing on aftershave revealed zero razor burn whatsoever.

  13. Menthol Monday:

    A true blue Grand Freeze!

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Canadian Tech/Wilkinson Sword day 13
    MSC Frosted Lavender SS
    Thayer’s Lavender Witch Hazel
    Prep ASB
    MSC Frosted Lavender AS Splash
Calvin Klein Obsession for Men Deodorant Stick
Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EdT

Truthfully and honestly Fernando is not only a wonderful friend of mine and one of the nicest guys you can ever deal with, his soaps and aftershaves are absolutely MAGNIFICENT. His Frosted Lavender is the most BEAUTIFUL lavender scent I ever had - the soap’s tallow formula gives the lather such thickness, richness, and slickness, the menthol sensation is off the charts just like a Stirling Glacial soap, and the skincare is perfect. The Thayer’s Lavender witch hazel is lightly scented and very soothing as well as comfortable, the Prep balm is another treasure from South Africa, and the Frosted Lavender aftershave is also witch hazel based, it’s so frigid, there’s no burning sensation, and the scent is exactly the same as the soap’s, and it seems to somehow pair well with the Obsession for Men. Three passes cleaned me up fantastically and gave me a brilliant BBS shave but this Wilkinson Sword blade is getting tired.

Have a good week - be well and safe![IMG]

  14. Micromatic Menthol Monday!

Razor - GEM Micromatic MMOC in gold
Blade - GEM Personna SS 5th shave
    Pre-shave - Proraso Green menthol
    Soap - Chiseled Face Cryogen
Brush - Classic Shaving synthetic (really nice and soft on the face)
Post - Thayers Toner & Geo F Trumper "Skin Food" Sandalwood"
    AS - Proraso

The Cryogen is COLD! It got my eyes watering while I shaved and even got my nose running! Very pleasant shave with the MMOC. I always enjoy the shaves with these razors. Nice and close & smooth! 2-pass shave with no cleanup. WTG & ATG with no cuts, nicks, or weepers. Very nice!

    Menthol Monday's Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap
    Oscar11 Synthetic
    Gem Flying Wing
    Supply Black Label Blade
    CWR
    Osage Rub
    sos220912x.jpg

The Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap lathered well with the Oscar11 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Flying Wing Razor and a Supply Black Label Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
  16. Yes, that is a nice one. It is for stropping blades. The bottom piece will screw into the main handle. The early Gem blades could be stropped to last longer. Mine is not as fancy as yours.

  17. Shave of the Week Starting 9/12/2022

    Yintal razor
    Treet 7 Days blade
    AP Shave Co brush
    Seaforth SS (vintage)
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Assorted A/S

Today is kinda sad day. It would have been my beloved wife's 72nd birthday. The Good Lord took her home and relieved her suffering. And then He turned around and let me find another wonderful woman who is now my wife. God is great. Anyway, the Yintal razor gives a fine shave but be careful, it can bite. But not today. The vintage Seaforth is terrific, glad that a synthetic brush uses so little of it to give a wonderful lather, it will last a lot longer. So all is well and my face is happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.

  18. Do any of Fernando's soaps lose their scent a little due to tue travel to Montreal?
