My face is frozen, in a good way. Nice shave too. Hadn't used the Gem combo in about forever but it gave a really fine shave and I"m ready to go. Now go enjoy your day folks

There's nothing like a boatload of menthol on a Monday morning, hence the term Menthol Monday. I had a most delightfully freezing shave from the Glacial Obsidian soap which gave me so much lather that I could have done four passes if I wanted. As I said yesterday, although it's "cousin" the Black Ice soap is cold this soap has at least three times the amount of menthol in it. The matching balm is equally as cold and very, very moisturizing and soothing. The Arctique aftershave felt like liquid nitrogen on my face, possibly even colder. The new Astra in my Parker R22 cleaned me up mega-BBS! :happy088: :happy088:

SOTD: Lovely Labor Day shave using this fine Hayashi Diamond 8000 razor, menthol-bombed L'Occitane 'Cade' lather applied with a jumbo synthetic. Musgo Real 'Spiced Citrus' for a refreshing finish. Can't go wrong with a keen Swedish steel edge!

The "I'm too lazy to take a photo" SOTD:

    Vintage Old Spice Soap*
    Simpson CH2 Synthetic
    Feather AS-D2
    Personna 74 (10)
    Vintage Old Spice Herbal AS

Better results using the synthetic, although I still went back to the puck for each pass. It's getting there, but the soap/water ratio is not yet optimal.
Visually, the lather isn't up to the standards of my other soaps, the shave doesn't suffer an iota. Indeed, this stuff is slick and the post shave rivals anything else I have tried. I am feeling very 1970's after using the OS Herbal.

    Happy Labor Day friends.

Shave 14. Trying different grips when it feels like something isn't right at the start of a stroke. My experience so far is that it is better to have an approach that feels right even when you can't see the blade than one that you can see but doesn't feel "right." ;)
