I received this nice stick as a gift back in January, and I must say that Speick products were sold here in Montreal a long time ago, but they were expensive. I remember the shaving stick well, it smells great, has a fresh feeling to it when you lather up, and it gives great lubrication during and after a shave. The lather builds a little easier with a boar brush, and a bit of extra water is needed, but when you get it going, you'll be rewarded with plenty of rich, fragrant lather, and a terrific shave.

I'm simply overwhelmed with this small piece of gold. It lathers up in the face verthe BOCk Silvertip. The other things I completely agree with Jeff. Here in Germany you can't get it in every drugstore but in many. The price is not very expensive. Much less than the english soaps and for me it does a better job.

This is a seldom-talked about, yet oustanding shave stick that is cheap and readily available (online) in the US.

The scent is a winner, perfect in every way. Smooth, suave, and manly without being overpowering. Spicy but in a refined way.

The lather is superb. Rich, thick, and creamy. One of the finer shave sticks I own with respect to lather.

Joe, I just wish Montreal would have kept the Speick line. It's so sweet, especially this stick.

This stick lathers very well and has good skincare.. The scent is soapy-spicy kinda and nice.. Price-wise this one is good here in europe..

Love the Speick. I bought this blind, and have been very pleased...I followed Bob's recommendation and have been happy I did...Thanks Bob!!

Love the Soap, also got the Cream, Aftershave and Cologne...Love the nice and spicy fragrance, nice skincare too...also got a thumbs up from my wife :D

I used a cheese grater on both of my sticks and molded the shaving soap into a ziplock bowl...works nicely :)

    Nice Close Shave

As a newbie have so far used VH soap, em's soap and cream and Musgo. Shaved with a merkur slant and derby blade.

Provides an excellent close shave. Lathers very well with good protection as well as feeling clean. IMO better than the proraso. Very little soap is required for lathering.

Scent is strange and does not moisturize nearly as well as em's products.

Can you tell I like this stuff?

I was introduced to Speick through a sample of the shave cream, but was initially unimpressed. When placing an order for some shave sticks, though, I decided to give this German wonder another whirl.

Now I am hooked. This tallow-based wonder gives excellent lather, and I love taking it when traveling. I love the scent - I am moving more towards "old-school" scents, and this is a nice one. They are really cheap, so it is one of those that is a win-win.

The Spike Stick's not as good as Arko's and Palmolive's in my estimation.

Slightly lower in quality, it also has a very unagreeable scent.

Still, it's a top soap which can be acquired for little $cratch.

I got my Speick shave stick from Klaus as part of a swap a fair while ago now. I just love it. Wonderful lather, pretty good scent, and it lasts ages. I initially used it under my usual lather (just rubbed the stick over my damp face and then lathered over the top with whatever I was using) and that worked great. More recently I have been using it as a travel soap because of the convenience, and I must say it works just as well on its own. Definitely recommended.

I wish this Speick treasure was sold here again, it's wonderful.

    My favorite Scent

Ease of Lather - It seems to lather a little slower than most soaps, but nothing problematic
Life Span of Lather - It does dry a little faster than average, but comes back with a little water. Only an issue for me when lathering up for face and head shaving.
Moisturizing - I don't find it drying, but not as good as some others (like MWF)
Lubrication - It is very slick as long as you don't let it dry out.
Protection - It gives good cushion.
Scent - This is where Speick really shines. It has a unique warm spicey/herbal scent that I find very relaxing. It is my favorite shave soap scent.
Price - Very reasonable, but not quite a bargain price.
Buy it again? - Of course I will!

I changed the format of using this soap

I received this as a gift from my son. The first impression was the scent. Absolutely fantastic! In fact, each time I went into the bathroom, I had to pick up the stick and inhale its clean fresh aroma, almost addictive.

My first time ever of face lathering was less than stellar. But, being a wise man, I knew that if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. After a few more sporadic attempts, followed by a solid week of face lathering, I decided to just grate the remaining stick into my sop bowl. Viola! Now, the lather explodes in the bowl regardless of either my boar or my badger brush.

The lather is very thick and almost a blinding white in color. Keep in mind, my previous favorite soap is VDH Deluxe, which has a slight pinkish orange hue to it.

It's moisturizing and protective qualities are fantastic.

I will continue to admire the VDH, but as long as the Speick lasts, I will admire it just as much, maybe a tad bit more. I didn't list the price very highly, because it was a gift.

That's weird. My grated Speick has a slight pinky hue, both the soap itself and also the lather.
