Just wanted some feedback, I'd like a good ,soft badger brush but with good backbone. Any ideas ?

I would start with Larry as well. I have a Silvertp and High Mountain from him. The silvertip is very soft. Perhaps I did not have it set deep enough causing it to be floppy for me. His HM has more backbone but not quite as soft which is what I prefer. Let Larry know what you want and how you plan on using the brush. He will be able to help you out.

Seriously. I've used $200 Art Of Shaving Fine badger brushes and the 24mm WD silvertip is the best brush I've ever used.

Whipped Dog is a good place to start. However, if you want only one definitive brush and are willing to spend a little more, Simpsons, Shavemac, and Thater offer great badger brushes.

My Semogue Owner's Club boar is softer than any of my badgers and has backbone to boot.

Seriously, we've all done the blindfolded "guess which one is the badger and which one is the boar" test and the boar always wins the "that one is badger!" test.

Not trying to bring anyone over to the pork side, just throwing out an option or perhaps a future choice.

    ....love that brush!

I have fairly limited experience with my own, but the Simpson Duke 3 in Best Badger receives good reviews for backbone. It may not be the softest but still a joy to use.

Another vote for WD. Definitely deep set if you want back bone. For a 24mm the sweet spot is 45-48mm of loft (based on my discussions with Larry). I have 24x48 and it I love it. The tips are very soft, but I can lather harder soaps.

Is that what is meant with the choice between 47mm or 52mm ? When ordering it has a choice to drill either. I hope i got it right. Went with a black resin 24mm, silver tip, drilled for 47mm ( that's $5 extra).

I sent him an email Anyway but since it's weekend I figured won't hear til Monday.

You got it right. The regular loft is 55mm. He can drill up to 10mm further in to his resin handles to create a loft as low as 45mm.

+1 for Larry. I've got a 24mm Black badger, and I ordered by Wife the 24mm synthetic. Both are terrific. I haven't tried the silvertip, but I'm planning to get the 30mm silvertip when they are back in stock.
