I can't post a reply in your post but please tell whats with all the cups? Tea party in the bathroom maybe http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18860
I've moved this thread out of The Medicine Cabinet, so Jeff can reply. The only person who can reply to The Medicine Cabinet threads are the original posters.
Thank you Queen! Those cups are made by The Prolon Company. They are made out of Nelite or Melamine Plastic. They have fins on them that allow for nesting and stacking and the fins are positioned in such a way that the bottom of the cup above does not touch the soap below. Those cups are what I store all my soaps in. I bought a bunch of them at a thrift shop. They look like commercial coffee cups, perhaps from a church or other such institution. Here is a link to a haul thread where I posted them awhile back: http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showpost.php?p=331350&postcount=12
Cups Very cool way of storing soap I always thought soap had to be stored in something with a lid on so that it did not dry out (lose its scent) Mind you I did like the idea that you had a coffee mornings in your bathroom
I suppose they dry out...but so far I have not noticed a degradation in scent or performance. I do have coffee every morning, during the shave. I just don't post about it because it is usually the mundane cup of Folger's, Don Fransisco, Dunkin' or Chock Full O' Nuts. Although this morning was a Cafe Bustello morning, made in the French Press.
If you store soaps without a lid, they will loose some scent after about a year. But, depending on how fast you use the soap and how much you care about the scent strength this may not be an issue.
I haven't had the Bustello in a couple years ... it was AWESOME. I highly recommend to anyone needing a boost that will kick in immediately.
Leaving soap uncovered is not a problem. It may lose some scent after a year or two, but nothing noticeable.
