I will be placing an order soon for either Stirling soap or Razorock soaps. Both are highly regarded soaps and I want to test them and review and see how they compare to my top performers. If you could only pick one would you pick Stirling or Razorock?
RazoRock has really been putting out some fabulous soaps lately, not that they weren't before. Stirling is outstanding in its own right. Like Primo wrote, try one of each. Win/Win.
I would give RazoRock a slight edge in performance, though I found Stirling to be more strongly scented than RazoRock. Also some Stirling are heavily mentholated if that interests you. Both are great soaps and excellent values.
I've used both. I feel that Stirling soaps are a little harder to lather than RazorRock. I vote for RazorRock.
I have both, brands and I like the Stirling, but what makes one person happy does not always make some one else happy.
As others have also said, I personally find Stirling difficult to lather relative to RazoRock, and don't intend to get any more Stirling shaving soap when my current stock is gone. I will note that, because Stirling is a harder soap, it will probably last a bit longer, so if they're priced evenly per oz. for you, the Stirling probably wins in economy.
Also I forgot to add that some times when I shave I just use a Shampoo to lather my face and use it to shave.
My puck of Stirling glacial lemon ice lasted me 4 months. The scent and slickness was great. I had some problems lathering it initially, but after some practice, the lather was just fine. I have not tried the razoroc yet, but as a comparison, Stirling beats Proraso on all counts. I'll get to compare it to RazoRoc soon. I would not hesitate to buy Stirling again. It's a great soap. Like the earlier post, buy both!
RazoRock. Stirring has some great smelling products but I find the performance of RazoRock superior. Italian barber is also a sure bet.
From my experiences with both, Stirling likes a softer water than RR. RR will lather with any water that I have used. If you have soft water I would go with Stirling. If not, RR. Just something to consider.
Not all Stirling are created alike. The menthol do not lather well, just a watery slop. I have had great success with Bergamot Lavender. Rod told me they put a huge amount of menthol in the glacial lemon chill which hurts its' lather. I have tried 5-6 of them and they vary greatly.
