I recently have tossed the idea of having a straight razor workshop with two respected blade artist in the business for sometime in the summer of 2019 at my mountain cabin inWestern Maryland . I have room for about 6 people to bunk out at my place .If anyone is interested let me know. It's great opportunity to meet these gentlemen and learn all aspects of honing and blade care.
I have limited skills, but this hobby everyone in this forum enjoys, is a way for novices such as myself to see the work it goes into forging these blades. I personally own several of their razors and they clearly are artist. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I do enjoy meets. I have learned a ton from going to meets. My honing skills developed super fast after my first meet and after my second meet and a wee bit more practice they became so much greater. I cannot attend this meet but hope that it is well attended.
Robert Williams is definitely going to be there, since my traveling now is over and I am going to be retiring for the most part, I am trying to see how many people would be interested in attending. I find it is always to plan ahead. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Great idea but I wish I could attend but that’s a long trip from soul. I look forward to reading about it.
Mike Martinez has agreed to try to make it, it will be interesting to pick the brains about razors. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Okay, snow day today so @Briscoe and I had a nice phone conversation. Seems I was the only one posting an ability to attend a little meet-up to take advantage of this generous opportunity. We are a little closer to summer, so I'm going give this thread a bump to check again for interest. A couple of things discussed today; The beauty of the surroundings The incredible custom razor makers available. Maryland steamed crabs. Fishing. Grilled steak. Toys that plink cans at around 10 football fields. Sharpening stones If anyone from a distance has interest, I'm available for transport to/from Baltimore Washington International Airport. So, how about it? Oops, I didn't tell @Briscoe I was going to do this....... hope it's OK.
