Just needing to pick your brains. I had just won a razor on Ebay, and went to pay for it through my PayPal link. I tried several times throughout the day, without success. The transfer wasn't being accepted. I received a message from the seller to pay via a direct account with PayPal, thus bypassing Ebay. This all doesn't sound Kosher to me. I am not doing it this way, until I find out if it's legit. It sounds as if they are trying to avoid the Ebay fees. Anyone experience this or have advise??
Oddly enough, I just ran into this exact scenario with a Rolls I won a few weeks back. The seller was very cagey about going thru the Pay Pal link on eBay and even sent a direct link to his account. I paid thru the traditional eBay/Pay Pal link and payment sat unaccepted for two weeks with radio silence from the seller. I cancelled the payment thru Pay Pal and all was refunded. Never had that happen before, and its apparently not out of the ordinary.
Ive seen it multiple times. They are trying to saves fees, but you have no buyer protection. You need to cancel it.
Not if they are trying to get you to use Friends and Family to avoid fees. Then you have no protection in a purchase.
Then they can just **** off. I'll do friends and family money tranfer for forum members I trust and that's it.
I will only do it for Friends and Family, not for people trying to put the sellers fees on the buyer. They should raise the selling price 3-4% and allow the buyer some protection. I would never try to sell something to one of you and put the fees on you. That’s just me.
Well, it was only $12, and i paid it through the link. I did let Ebay know what was going on, but they have yet to reply. They are usually fast with answers. She marked it as paid and sent a tracking number. I should know by the end of the week, or early next week.
Please let us know what happens @DaltonGang. Ebay needs to protect it buyers from shady sellers. Remember another thing Dalton, it's not just "$12" its YOUR $12 and that is why "win or lose" you must make the good fight. It's not about the money it's about the principle! I learned that from someone who lived through the depression, world war 2 and raising his 3 boys alone after his wife died, he was a very generous person and good friend, but if anyone ever tried to get over on him there was hell to pay. Good luck
