Grew up reading Marvel comics so I gave in and had to see if the movie would be as I'd always imagined it'd be (no, but probably as good as it could be). Anyway, Thor hammers Cap's shield full on and is completely deflected by it without Cap moving an inch. Okay, movie vibranium can do that, fine, I get that. But in the 2nd Captain America movie, the Batroc character kicks Cap in the shield and knocks him halfway across the deck of the ship. Did any other geeks, ex- or current, notice this inconsistency? Yes, I'm ashamed to even ask this.
of all the physics defying stunts the hulk performed, you got hung up on how hard captain America got hit in the head?
Seriously? That's the inconsistency that bothers you? lol I know what you mean, things like that will eat away at me too. You know what I do? I try to remember that while Captain America may indeed be pretty awesome, he's an imperfect being just like you or me. Some days you get out of bed and can take Thor's hammer, other days you get out of bed and you can't take a cheap shot from a chump. Like Sam Elliott said in The Big Lebowski: Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you.
Well, calling if 'in love with' is a bit too much (SWMBO doesn't approve of that). But I like him a lot!
Yeah, the inconsistencies are kind of annoying, but who's to say which power trumps which one and when. The picking up Thor holding is hammer vs not being able to pick up Thor's hammer was actually pretty funny though
No need to be ashamed. There is no inconsistency. The Earth's magnetic field reversed polarity, this the seemingly disparate effects on good 'ol Cap. My take: Reality is consistent, fiction of the most fantastical sort often is not. Worrying about the disparity between the two is often pointless. Just accept that fiction is sometimes inconsistent, as are interpretations of it, and all will be well. Or at least pretty close. Now there are those who pore over every detail in a comic, and even come up with the notion of canon. IMHO, that is taking things far too seriously and losing sight of the forest for the trees. It is a comic. As long is there is stylin' artwork in the printed version and action and flashy special effects in the movie, things are as they should be. It is about enjoying the ride, not over-analyzing why the ride is enjoyable. So how to resolve the inconsistencies? Just roll the dice wing it like I did above and you will have your answer.
