Sudocrem is a combination of a heavy moisturizer and antiseptic sold in the UK for treating nappy rash, eczema, sunburn, plain burns, bedsores, etc. It's not an everyday post shave treatment, but is ideal for when a shave goes very, very bad. It provides immediate and long lasting relief - pain and appearance-wise - from razor burn. (Even the severe razor burn that can result from trying "King Of Shaves" on sensitive, thick stubbled skin.) This is a medical treatment and I suspect it far excels any cosmetic product in its ability to soothe and repair. But as I said above, this is a heavy moisturizer! This stuff is designed to soothe and protect damaged skin, not to be used on your face every day: your skin will still feel waxy the next day, never mind when you leave the bathroom. Sudocrem is amazingly cheap compared to most cosmetic products: 250g - enough to treat more bad shaves than you should get in a lifetime - cost £5. It seems to be widely available in Canada as well as the UK, but not in the US. However, Americans should find it easy to order off ebay if they tick the "Search Worldwide" option, or they can also order it from www.britsuperstore.com. Possibly - probably - there's some American equivalent anyway? (Note: I've scored Sudocrem 5 for absorption, because while it definitely does penetrate the skin it also leaves a waxy surface layer. However, this surface layer is exactly what you want on top of damaged skin! So this score could equally have been a 10. I really can't say enough good things for this gunk as an emergency standby.)
This very helpful after a poor shave, however if you have a nightmare shave this is not as superior as Savlon. It will reduce the burn and prevent a rash but if your in agony as I was with after using a Wilkinson Pronto recently it didn't do anything for my face being on fire. So it's good to have but Savlon is better! Available in the UK as mentioned above, in The Netherlands and maybe the rest of Europe - look in the baby section .
