I just recently picked up my first ever open comb razor from Maggard Razors, the V2OC and i have really been liking it and getting some great shaves Now i am wanting to buy a few more open comb razors to try out, was wanting to hear your suggestions of one you might recommend .. vintage or current Thanks for your input !
I recently purchased a re-plated 1921-28 (no serial number) old type razor and it is just AMAZING. A fantastic shave: no nicks, no burn and as smooth as you like. I've also been wondering about one of the Crown King Razors - The Pheonix double open comb razor. Now, they look really good. The double comb provides addition lube.
I have had 2 old types and I regret letting one go because my wife to be stole mine for herself. I've also heard nothing but great things about the Phoenix DOC.

ATT M2. Wow! I shave everyday. With that baby the next day could be skipped. Not as mellow as a feather ASD2 but wow it's nice.
You did good selecting a Maggards V2OC open comb head. They are among the best open comb razors I have ever tried. I have used every Gillette open comb ever made, and I think the Maggards is a better OC. And I'm a devout Gillette man. I hate most modern razors, but the V2OC is fantastic. In fact the are only two modern razors I will use, the Razo Rock Mission, and the Maggards V2OC. Usually I will randomly pick a different Gillette each day, but recently I bought a V2OC , and have been using it every shave in the last ten days or so. It is that good.
Very happy with my Muhle R41. Not too aggressive but I've recently swapped the top plate off my R89 closed comb as (for some reason) is actually about 1mm narrower than the plate that came with my R41 open comb. This gives me a bit more blade exposure. I usually do the first 2 passes with the R89 then swap the head for the open comb 41 but with the 89 top plate. Works a treat. I'm keen to try the Fattip grande to compare.
