I usually shve at night, but since I haven't shaved for a couple of days I decided to shave this morning before my shower. Since I had 2-3 days growth I wanted to use my Cadet OC. I'd put a blade in it about a week ago, maybe a little longer, and I usually don't like to have a blade sit in a razor without using it. I was going to replace it, but figured what the heck I'll keep it in and toss it when I'm done with this shave. I usually don't use a preshave, but because of the aforementioned blade situation I decided to slather on Noxzema between each pass. I used Omega soap and spent some time bowl lathering it with a cheap Vanderhagen Badger. During the second pass, the head somehow started to come unscrewed, and I nicked myself a couple of times before I realized it had become much more aggressive. But, I fixed it and kept on going. Three passes in total, and one north to south shave on my neck. Immediately after, I jumped into the shower. Sitting here now, feeling my face, and I realized I somehow got a BBS shave out of that. Very surprised as I was actually going for kind of a poor, weekend shave. Nice surprise.
I've come to realize that after a while your technique and experience is the main factor for a great shave. I'd even go so far as to say that your technique is 75% of a great shave..if not more
Wow, I should've kept my mouth shut. Tonight's shave was terrible. It was one of those shaves that felt like it should be BBS, but now feels like I did one bad pass and left all kinds of stubble behind. That's what I get for bragging, I guess!!
