I picked this up at H. E.B. earlier this week. I still haven't used it because they still haven't re stocked the VDH soaps.

Has anyone had a good experience with this cheap brush? I might just return it and stick with my Semogue when I get home.

Forget it; the Semogue has already ruined you against any boar brush that isn't Semogue or Omega!

Thought so. I grabbed it thinking it was better than nothing. I've been using Noxema foam in the red can so there really isn't a use for it.

I'll PIF it or get my money back.

You should re-knot it! That's what I just did to mine. I like the handle on it, feels nice in my hand.

For what you paid for it I'd keep it, break it in and use it for a travel brush. Mine seemed to lose alot of hair when I used it. But as a travel, I'm not really devestated if I lose it brush it's great.... Then when the knot doesn't work anymore reknot it, again nothing to lose....:)

I have a buddy that I'm trying to convert. I might give him the brush along with one of my Super Speeds, some blades, and a cheap soap.

The brush did feel nice in my hand though.

    Very cool.
It's not a terrible brush. Some folks like it. I just know that for me I can get a better brush for just a few bucks more.

Personally, I haven't tried many brushes. Only the Vulfix Burlington and Semogue 1305. Tbh I don't have a desire to try Omega since I've had such good results with my 1305.

I might pick up a Whipped Dog Silver tip, but as far as other Semogues my info is limited onto performance and whatnot.

Ryan, that's really nice of you to give your friend the brush and other stuffs. :) I'm sure he will appreciate them. Let me also say that a Super Speed is a great razor for somebody new to traditional wetshaving to learn.;)

Well, I offered the Super Speed to him; but he chickened out at the last minute. It might take more convincing, but since he isn't made of money; I might be luring him in.

Surrey was taken over by VDH several years ago. I haven't had much luck with the VDH brushes, but I have three Surrey's and they are actually quite good. I find myself reaching for one of them regularly. The two blue ones are marked 31014 natural boar, while the white one is 34014 deluxe natural boar. The white one is slightly softer than the blue ones.

I use the blue one on the left and the white one a lot, the other blue one I believe was unused when I bought it so it's a backup right now. The knot on the blue one fell out a few months ago so I just cleaned the old adhesive off and gobbed on some Gorilla Glue, stuck the knot back in, and it's still going strong!
