Gonna have to pun here..sorry.. These bulbs are a really bright idea..switched to LED's in the living room and they're great...
You actually have to buy a 3 way bulb to get the different brightnesses with a 3-way switch. LED bulbs should work but I think you'll only get one level.
Some LED's seem to be dimmable while others are not. The non dimmable are new on the market and are much cheaper..at least up here in Canada...
While the eye can't pick up the "flicker" of fluorescent, the brain can. It can trigger migraines in my wife.
Personally, I think they are ugly. I also read that you shouldn't use them in bedrooms (something to do with health concerns?). They burn out too easily when used in outdoor fixtures. And finally, because I don't like the cold sterile light they put out. The soft light of incandescents is much more welcoming. That's one reason I was delighted to find these LED's so affordable.
Oh Canada, we stand on cars and freeze... Artist: National Anthems Song: Oh Canada Real Lyric: Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee... Meh... sounds right to me either way.
I get images of all those Canadians standing out there in the cold with there CFL lightbulbs watching football..on top of their snow bound cars..and dreaming of Tim hortons dough nuts..eh..and that stupid football smiley doesn't work..sorry...
I had no idea these were becoming an option, thanks for the post. Here, in prairie Canada, the cheapest are still going for $7 a bulb, but they are rated as equivalent 60w dimmable.
CFLs trigger migranes in me and my exwife. The light is harsh and it takes too long to warm up to full brightness.
I too am replacing bulbs as they burn out with LED. We have a lot of recessed lighting (flood light style), kitchen (6), living room (6) and basement (10). Cheapest I can find the right size for the recessed opening is 8 bucks at Costco on sale. I bought 8 of them, already used 4. Should just go back and buy enough for the whole house and be done with it next time they are on sale.
