Synthetic from whippeddog?

I'm looking to add a synthetic to my collection and have heard decent things about Whipped Dog brushes. Are their synthetic knots pretty decent? And it says that the knot comes in a "resin handle". Seeing as I don't have any experience placing knots in handles or anything, is this a decent handle that they come in?

Does anyone else have any recommendations for a good synthetic with a 23mm+ knot for around the $25-$30 range?

Well, I just "accidentally" ordered a 24mm synthetic. I haven't heard from Larry yet for payment etc. maybe the wife won't notice another brush on the rack?

The WD synthetic is good, but I much prefer the one from TGN both for looks and performance.

I have a WD Synthetic. It's a super brush. Larry does really nice work at a very reasonable price.

I have a 23mm Pur-tech synthetic knot that was fitted into a WD resin handle, and it is one of my favorite brushes to use. You might get some luck if you post in the WTB section. Synthetics aren't for everyone, so you might get one fairly inexpensive. Good Luck.

Larry is a very nice guy to do business with !
As about the WD Synthetic knot, well....i have it but i wasn't so happy
Didn't do better lather than other synthetics as Pur-Tech or even Omega's Hi-Brush.
The knot has backbone, nice looking but does not "bloom" a little bit.
Yes i know that "bloom" and synthetic won't match but i think you can understand me.
I wanted from him to work better in my face.

Nice handle! It would look better with a silver tip. Just saying.

I do not have one of Larry's Synthetic brushes. I have one of his silver Tip Brushes, and I would not give it up for "Love nor Money"

Got my WD 24mm synthetic in the mail today! I can't wait to get home and try it!!! The tips on the brush are incredibly soft but it still seems to have a lot of backbone. The handle is pretty nice too for a cheaper resin handle. Good weight, nice shape and color with the black/white marble finish. I'll update with pics and a short review after it's first test run!

Shaved tonight and used my synthetic for the first time with mixed results. First: this thing is a WATER RETENTION MONSTER. I ended up with too much water in my brush (even after a hard squeeze and several shakes) and my soap got all foamy while I was loading the brush. I kept at it (and ended up essentially bowl lathering in the soap container) and got a decent, but not as think and creamy a lather as I'm used to built on my face. The brush is incredibly soft but still manages to have as much backbone as my Omega 10049.
I think my first mistake was letting the brush soak while I showered. I ended up with way too much water in the hair. Next time I use it, I may just dip it once, squeeze then shake so it's drier.
It's also a smaller knot than I'm used to with a lot less density compared to my Liojuny 26mm Silvertip. Still ended up with a DFS but was a little disappointed in my lather. I'll give it another go next time I shave and see if less water makes the difference. I'll use the same soap (RazoRock XXX) to ensure consistancy of product so I can work on purely my technique.

    And now, some eye candy!

You are on the right track. You do not need to soak a synthetic knot. Just dip, shake, and swirl.
