This was nasty, from the start. Even the sellers shots looked like crap. But, for under $5, I rolled the dice. The scales were trashed, of course, and the blade was a rust bucket. But, I'm a sucker for stray razors, and dogs.
Plenty of sanding and polishing, made it look acceptable. I had some great looking scales ready, but they would have overpowered the looks of the blade. So, I had some old unused scales I have had, for a wile. I drilled some holes, made a lead wedge, and set the blade. It aligned beautifully. Now I need massage out a tiny ding, and hone this stray, no one else wanted.
    This is my restoration day.

    Before, from the seller.

Nice job bringing out the stamping on the tang... I didn't expect that given the "before" pics.
Scott, do you know if those crossed keys are Herder scales?

I dont know. I bought about 6-8 pair, NOS, without holes drilled, last year. It was very inexpensive, and today was the first time I've ever re-scaled anything.
